The next home they find has a woman, man, and seven men, which is closely described to the Snow White fairy tale. Unfortunately, because of Hansel and Gretel the man decides to murder his children and only keep Gretel, because he always wanted a daughter. After, Hansel and Gretel feel guilty about the boys that were murdered, so they decide to run away.
Finally, they decide to live alone without any parents, since all of their parents or guardians they have lived with in the past have either been wicked or crazy! Hansel and Gretel discover a spooky and haunted forest where they decide to live. Unfortunately, Hansel makes A LOT of mistakes throughout the story, and Gretel forgives him along their horrific and bloody journey. After all of the bad and abusive parents they had, witches, haunted forest, dragons, magic, and terror, they have encountered they are clever enough to create their own “Happily Ever After”.
Reflection: I really enjoyed reading this dark fairy tale. I am a fan of the Grimm Fairy Tales, since they are so suspenseful and always have a moral lesson at the end. As librarians, we need to familiarize ourselves with different all of the genres and styles, eventhough it might be out of our
