It was April 15, 2012 and my school had just posted that they would be having talent show auditions on May 1st and 3rd. I loved watching the talent show but was always afraid of trying out. My friend Cianna, Henrietta, and I loved stepping in gym. We all knew they we would never have the guts to try out for the talent show because we were afraid of being rejected.
The following week I did the unthinkable I told Henrietta and cianna “Guys I think we should audition for the talent show. So what if they reject us at least we know we tried.” They both look at me like I was the craziest person on the world. Then Henrietta and Cianna responded with a very low “Yes” and I was so happy. So every day we all practiced as hard as possible.
Gym and recess were the two main places that we decided to practice. We would show our teachers to make sure it was exceptional. I t was getting closer to the try out date and we kept practicing.
We were doing so good and had everything together but we had one problem. We forgot to pick good entrance music for when we walked on stage. We really had a hard time deciding on the perfect song because we knew the song had to be school appropriate but still entertaining. It was a couple days later and our 5th grade teacher Mrs. Lane us that Henrietta, Cianna, and I had to step outside. All three of us looked at each other we all thought that we had done something wrong and were getting in trouble. When we walked outside the class room Mrs. Lane said “I Have found the perfect song.” Henrietta replied and asked “what is the song title?” Mrs. Lane replied and said “Can’t hold us by Macklemore” we all agreed and we had then found the perfect song.
Those last few couple of days went by very fast. By the time we were finished it was time to audition. We went to the audition it was very dark and there were three teachers siting awaiting to judge our performance. It was all up to the teachers to determine if we were good enough to actually pull it off and make the talent show. The next week the results were in they left the paper on the desk if we had made the talent show. I was the first to arrive to school and I turned over the paper. When I turned over the paper it had said “Congratulations you have been chosen to perform in the Talent show”. When Henrietta and Cianna arrived to school and we had all found out the good news we were so ecstatic that we accomplished our goal. We still continued to practice to make sure we were ready for the actual talent show.
Everything was completed the three of us had done everything we were supposed to do. Except the one most important thing yet and that was performing in front of the whole school. That day had come and it was time for us to perform. Before the performers began we had time to talk to our families. Henrietta’s father and older sister showed for support. Cianna’s mom, little brother, and little sister came to support. Finally my dad came to support. The times to talk to our families were over and we had to sit and watch the other performers before us. We looked at the talent show program and we were last. That day I felt the most nervous in my life and it was time for us to perform. When the music came on we performed and gave it everything we had. When we had finally stopped the crowd roared and cheered with happiness. That was one of the happiest days in my life. All three of us had accomplished our goal and we rocked that talent show. Our parents and siblings were so happy and proud. That was one of my most memorable moments in my life. It was also one of the funniest moments in my life. I will never forget this moment.
