In the Taming of The Shrew the relationships that occur are a little odd. You have the one relationship with Bianca and Lucentio where she is the real definition of a wife. And on the other hand you have Kate and Peruchio were Kate seems to be more of the head person in charge. In Bianca and Lucentio relationship is more of Lucentio taking the leading role in the decision making. Bianca is in clear understanding of her role and what is expected of her. Bianca is one women who I believe that is scared to actually stand up for herself and actually what she believes in. She plays that role as if she is not suppose to be speaking her mind.
Kate and Peruchio have a backwards relationship. Kate is in control of this relationship. I’m not saying that Peruchio doesn’t have a say so in their relationship but Kate iks more of the person who is quick to express what she feels. I think this is how it is in today’s world. Even though it has some negative outcomes with the women being so dominate, it makes men understand that women do not depend on them. Both relationship are alike because everyone plays a role in their situation. They also have someone who stands in control and someone who follows. By this happening it allows for the …show more content…
relationship to not being everywhere, more of a sense of order.
I feel as if both relationships are overrated.
The reason is because it puts too much responsibility on relations roles. I feel as if relationships should be equal. No one should have more power than the other person in the relationship. I feel that both relationships in the book belittles the other partner. Seeing as though one person is underneath its “owner”. Bianca and Lucentio relationship is the definition of Elizabethans idea of a wife/ husband. The reason is because they are actually following step by step directions on how things are suppose to be. Especially how he won her hand at marriage. Normally in relationship marriage is not arranged and already planned before the wedding actually
happens.
They are a couple that holds one another up, even though the husband is above the wife. Their relationship is more of a relationship that would last in the long run. On the other hand the relationship with Kate and Peruchio is a relationship that will not last. Just for the simple fact, Peruchio will eventually get tired of not having a voice. Not saying he do not have a voice now, but he is more of what would be the wife. I feel as if Peruchio was thinking he was going to be able to change how Kate is feeling just because he is her husband. But the type of women Kate is Peruchio is not going to be able to change her.
Kate is too dominant to be an example of Elizabethans idea. The reason being is because she doesn’t know her role. She has the mindset that she can do the same for herself that a man can do. Kate doesn’t allow for herself to just let Peruchio take control of situations. Kate’s mindset gets the best of her sometimes because she is too wild that at a point no one wanted to marry her. She is the definition of someone who has no hope in being taken as a women, she is always going to be taking as a man.
