Advantages of living in the Tampa Bay Area
What a unique spot of geography that the Tampa Bay Area truly is. It is a peninsula that is attached to a larger peninsula (which would be the state of Florida) with a huge natural harbor. The Tampa Bay Area also rests along the warm Gulf of Mexico that holds rich and diverse Ecology. These factors bring many advantages to living in Tampa Bay Area when it comes to enjoying the great outdoors, especially outdoor water activities. One has instant access and many options when deciding to pursue relaxing or action packed outdoor water activities here. Fishing and kayaking are a couple examples I will use to highlight the advantages this unique geography offers year around. All the while weather hardly impeding upon this fun!
The Tampa Bay Area is a sport fisherman’s paradise. Just within the area there are 200 species of fish and many types of shellfish. In-shore fishing is a dream because the waters are comprised of shallow sea grass beds, mud flats and mangroves; these environments are perfect feeding grounds for many popular gamefish like, Redfish, Sheephead , Snook and Seatrout. I would compare the Tampa Bay Area waters like a fully stocked kitchen for all the Gulf marine life; High tide is the dinner bell and all the fish come running in from deeper water for mealtime! With so much coastline that has a generous amount of piers and bridges sprinkled along it, it’s never hard to catch a bite even if a boat isn’t at your disposal. Off the outer Gulf shores, deep-sea fishing is readily available and very popular here. Many fishing charters businesses thrive here in the Bay Area because the waters are teeming with wildlife and people want to get in on the action. Spearfishing is also another option because of the many dive sites and reefs. The “St. Pete Open” is proof of this; it is the largest spearfishing tournament in the world held right here every year.
