Argentine Tango
"The forms of tango are like stages of a marriage. The American tango is like the beginning of a love affair, when you're both very romantic and on your best behavior. The Argentine tango is when you're in the heat of things and all kinds of emotions are flying: passion, anger, humor. The International tango is like the end of the marriage, when you're staying together for the sake of the children." There are different styles of dancing tango but the one that caught my attention was Argentine tango because dancers show lot intensity, powerful, passion, drama and excitement. When they are dancing that makes them stand out from the rest.
I will be looking at its history, movements, and music of Tango. You might ask yourself why I chose this style of dance, the reason is because my father loves this type of dance and I wanted to learn about it and maybe later on learn to dance this style of dance. So far what I have learn about tango is that no one knows exact where the word tango or the dance originated from. The only thing we know is that tango was brought to Argentina in the mid 1800s, African slaves were brought to Argentina and they influence the local culture. It is believed that the word tango may be African origin that means “closed space or reserved ground”
One of the things that I found out about the background of this beautiful dance is that all those immigrants that came from Argentina were poor single men who came to Argentina hoping to make money. Tango represents their despair, profound sense of loss of the people they left behind. Tango was born in African-Argentine dance venues the participants were mostly native born and poor people. Tango was spread world wide during 1920s and 1930s and it came to be the fundamental expression of Argentine culture and the golden age lasted from 1940s through 1950s.
Argentine Tango is an improvisational dance
