Titulo Prescrito:

Sometimes the production of art is related to the artist’s political convictions. To what extent is this demonstrated by the founders of El Teatro Campesino?

Music mysteriously connects with the human heart. It often speaks more than words, yet when words speak with music it greatly impacts the human heart. Is powerful because it’s medicinal for pains and balm for scars. A man once told me that a heart is unable to feel pain. However, my heart can prove that statement wrong. My heart can speak about the power of music combined with words. Not any words, but the words of God. His words can sink to the bottom of a human heart. Combining these two variables, the songs of “ Levanto Mis Manos” and “ Nada te Turbe” by Samuel Hernandez emerge. In this essay, music is not only enjoyable for the ears, but is medicine for inexplicable pain and a hopeless heart.…

Or does the focus of Historias extraordinarias is not –more than the challenge of its duration (not that it is that long), but also the demonstration that you can still tell good stories– on how well, on such an extraordinarily well, it might be told? For its part, the virtuosity of technical precision with which the actors of El pasado es un animal grotesco embody almost without any breaks in their various roles in the play, and in turn, the effectiveness and the perfect adjustment of the way the story shift from one to the other, as well as the solid writing in each of the texts –which is one of the reasons for the aesthetic enjoyment of this spectator– are the effects of a well-made production. However, at the same time it is obvious that none of that illustrated pragmatism, postulated as alternative ethics for the design of collective strategies in the era of the new capitalism, may account for some projects whose works, enormous in scale, posited questions concerning “the well-made” production, the strategy of the obsession and the craftsmanship of time, within the larger framework of the inquiry of the artistic…

    What Is Art for Me?

Art has been created by all people at all times; it lives because it is liked and enjoyed. Art involves personal experiences of an individual accompanied by some intensity of emotion. Art is made of man, no matter how close it is to nature. Although each work of art is evidently the expression of an artists’ personal thoughts and feelings it may be inferred that, like any other individual, he belongs to a million, and he cannot free himself from the influence of his social, economic, political, cultural, geographic, scientific, and technological environment.…

“The Arts” is a general term encompassing all artistic knowledge and activity; its boundaries are not strictly set but rather left open for debate. From this, it could be argued that the progression of art requires disagreement. Disagreement will often times provoke a response, which is regularly an aim of the production of art. Artists can strive to generate responses, good or bad, from individuals and communities. As an Area of Knowledge, The Arts are much less defined than the natural sciences, as well as being a much more intentionally individualistic discipline. Knowledge produced by this discipline follows no set universal method, but rather relies on the utilization of various methods. Art presents itself in many forms (performing, visual, and literary arts), and so too does knowledge of The Arts; one can have knowledge of The Arts from both practice and analysis. When engaging with art, a knower can take an objective or subjective approach, art critic Clive Bell once suggested that a viewer of art requires a certain sensitivity for the “value to be appreciated” (Bastian, 2014). This Area of Knowledge suggests guidelines whilst simultaneously promoting freedom of expression. Therefore the presence of disagreement is to be…
