Target Transgender Case Study

Target, the second-largest retail chain in America, pledged to make their bathrooms and their dressing rooms gender-equal to demonstrate their commitment as an inclusive corporation. Steven Wait, the city council president of Oxford, opposes the newly passed law by saying, “Our citizens have a right to feel safe. The ordinance is meant to protect women and children from those who would take advantage of a bathroom-use policy held by the retail chain Target” (Wait). Target is one of several corporations who have enacted the potentially dangerous bathroom policy and as a result, hundreds of thousands of people are boycotting the company. Although the restroom policy seems flawless for transgenders who are attempting to avoid confrontation
