Anna Marconi talks to Elli Argyridou. Anna is a fashion designer and blogger, and the founder and creative director of ‘Taste of Runway’ (www.tasteofrunway.com) Taste of runway is an innovative website that combines fashion and food: Anna’s two main passions. Over a Skype conversation Anna explains how she came up with the idea of her website and she talks about her main inspirations, her career and her collaboration with ‘Miele’.

ELLI ARGYRIDOU: You have studied fashion design at istituto marangoni Milan and afterwards you’ve worked for Tom Ford and Jil Sander. How was your experience working for them?
ANNA MARCONI: Yes, that’s right (I’ve studied fashion design at istituto marangoni Milan) and right after my

AM: Yes I do cook all the recipes. I do everything by myself.

EA: What cuisine is your favorite?
AM: The Italian of course and then the Asiatic one (Chinese food, Japanese food, Thai and Vietnamese)

EA: In 2015 you came up with a new column in your website ‘tasteofpeople’ how the idea to interview people and get inspired from them come up? How it developed can you please describe me a bit the whole process like how it happens every time, how you choose the person to interview.
AM: So basically people were always asking me, ‘when are you gonna cook for us’? And this is how the idea of the column ‘people’ came up. I invited some friends at home and people of the fashion, music and design industry. I cooked for them and then I though ‘why don’t I create a new column on the blog where I will be doing the same thing?’ and that was it.

EA: If you had the chance to create a recipe inspired by yourself. What would it be?
AM: I think I would like to be a tasty plate of spaghetti. I love them!

EA: There is also a ‘lifestyle’ column on your website. What do you mainly post on that column? Are there things about your

Miuccia Prada was born in Milan on May 10, 1949 into a family of luxury leather goods manufacturers (Craven, 2008). Throughout the 1970s she was a champion for women’s rights and infamously part of the Italian Communist Party (Craven, 2008). In 1977, she met her husband and now business partner Patrizio Bertelli, who is now the driving force behind her business (Galloni, 2010). It was not until after she finished her PhD in Political Science, and a five-year stint studying mime at the Teatro Picco, that she took over her family’s business in 1978 (Craven, 2008). By 1985 Miuccia Prada had already created her first breakthrough line: black, unlabeled, finely woven, nylon handbags that…

My favorite food is Italian food. Basically we can say it consisted of spaghetti and pizza. They are not only show up in Italy but also popular in US. Italian food is considered inexpensive, family oriented and convenient. The Italian food culture has influenced the American way of making food. Ingredients are potato sauce, flour and olive oil. People suppose to prepare these stuffs before they made Italian foods. However, American already tried to use these ingredients for another kind of food which means Italian food culture completely mix with American food culture.…

Since 2006 I've watched a number of Sandra Lee's "Semi-Homemade Cooking" episodes on The food Network; what captivated me from the beginning was both Sandra Lee's impeccable personal style and the elegance of her kitchen, which she changes for each episode. Sandra Lee is remarkably easy on the eyes - a modern-day throwback to the style, grace and beauty of the 1950's. That crispness is what she represents. Sandra Lee's originality is beyond compare and while she gives credit to her beloved paternal grandmother for instilling in her the love of baking and decorating, Sandra Lee's inventiveness is entirely her own. Many have grown up in challenging circumstances but not everyone can tastefully design a small apartment with inexpensive fabrics.…

While foods and tastes differ from place to place, the cultural importance of food exists the world over. Throughout history food has also played a pivotal role in the areas of race, gender and religion. From who grows the food to who prepares it, food has strongly been linked to the varying roles of men and women. Changes in farming and food production have invariably brought with them changes in what men and women are able to do, and not do. Race also tells a story to what they eat. For example, Italy pasta is served as a side dish, whereas in in America, Italians serve pasta as their main course. My Italian neighbor said it is because food was very expensive during early Italian immigration and pasta was very efficient. Therefore, they ate as much pasta to hold them up during the day. As for religion, what you can and cannot eat is an important way for people to connect with their deities and their religious communities. Whether we are man or woman, religious or not, or whatever race these issues impact the society in which we live.…

Born in Picanza in 1934, there had always been early evidence of the Giorgio Armani prodigy. A sensitive and unusually fastidious child, Armani enjoyed a stable childhood in a hardworking middleclass family. His mother was a great influence in his life, as she dressed elegantly but disdained fashion. It was not surprising to learn that her favourite colours were cream, white, taupe and grey – colours that we know today represent signature Armani. He completed his studies at the University of Bologna, after which he took a job as an assistant window dresser, and then a fashion buyer, in 1954. In 1960s, he worked at menswear company Nino Cerruti as a designer, where he developed his knowledge and understanding of tailoring, fabrics and production. It was a decade later that he met Sergio Galeotti, his partner, with whom he launched his first collection.…

Cooking is my passion. It allows me to be creative when I’m normally not. Anything I cook makes me feel good: desserts, lunch, dinner, or snacks. I’m most relaxed in the kitchen, apron on, and ingredients everywhere. It’s like a challenge to see what’s in my fridge and pantry and to see what I can create. Every pot and pan I have waiting on my stove, a pantry full of ingredients at my leisure, an eager family waiting in the other room, ideas tumbling around in my head, utensils cleaned and ready, my mind goes somewhere else and I am in my element. My passion is waiting.…
