Egyptians used tattoos to mark different social classes in intricate patterns. Nonetheless, Egyptians were not the only early humans that these marks are found on. An Italian-Austrian found preserved in ice from this time period had several different tattoo patterns displayed on his body (Caplan np). However, within the past 25 years, the popularity of tattoos has exploded and is more socially acceptable than ever. Today, if you were to travel to a public place, you would most likely see at least one individual with a tattoo visible on their body. However, if you were to go to the same public place 30 years ago, it would have been less likely to have seen an individual leaving their tattoo on display in the same way.
