Artistic blood courses through my veins. All of my belongings as a kid featured puff paint creations and homemade bedazzling. Expressing this artistic side of my personality on my skin is a dream that I hope to one day peruse. Personalizing and decorating one’s body is beautiful and truly inspiring. I have always been one to gawk at beautifully done tattoos, alongside any other uniquely displayed physical statement regarding one’s appearance. Views on tattoos vary throughout every religion, age, and gender. However, it is obvious that in the 21st century, tattoos have become more accepted throughout all of the population.

2000 B.C. is the first year in which traces of tattoos are being identified on several different female mummies (Caplan np). Egyptians used tattoos to mark different social classes in intricate patterns. Nonetheless, Egyptians were not the only early humans that these marks are found on. An Italian-Austrian found preserved in ice from this time period had several different tattoo patterns displayed on his body (Caplan np). However, within the past 25 years, the popularity of tattoos has exploded and is more socially acceptable than ever. Today, if you were to travel to a public place, you would most likely see at least one individual with a tattoo visible on their body. However, if you were to go to the same public place 30 years ago, it would have been less likely to have seen an individual leaving their tattoo on display in the same way.
