“Piercing in the Workplace Stereotype” by Sara Dobosh on the Fox News website in the business section is the article I chose to read. I chose it because it was very surprising and had some great statistics I could use for my essay.
“Piercing in the Workplace Stereotype” by Sara Dobosh focuses on having tattoos and piercings in the workplace and how it effects the chances of getting a job. Dobosh says in her opening paragraph that employers do not greatly discriminate against those with tattoos and peircings because they would be decreasing their group of future employees. But, if a there are excessive tattoos and/or piercings visible at a job interview it does put the interviewee at a disadvantage but there is no negative impression on the employer if something small is visible. The FDA estimates that over 45 million people have a tattoo and that between the ages of 18 to 29 have a tattoo and those ages above 29 have some sort of body art or modification. Later in the article, Dobosh sheds light on the fact that preconceptions about individuals with tattoos are no longer valid. The main idea is that even though
