Taylor Swift
Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania and raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Andrea Gardner (née Finlay), a homemaker who previously worked in finance, and Scott Kingsley Swift, a stockbroker. Her maternal grandmother, Marjorie Finlay (née Moehlenkamp), was an opera singer. Swift has a younger brother, Austin. She grew up on a Christmas-tree farm.
When Swift was in fourth grade, she won a national poetry contest with a three-page poem, "Monster in My Closet". At the age of ten, a computer repairman showed her how to play three chords on a guitar, sparking her interest in learning the instrument. Afterwards, Swift wrote her first song, "Lucky You". When Swift was 12, she devoted an entire summer to writing a 350-page novel, which remains unpublished. She began writing songs regularly and used it as an outlet to help her with her pain from not fitting in at school. Swift was a victim of bullying, and spent her time writing songs to express her emotions. She also started performing at local karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs.
Swift began to regularly visit Nashville, Tennessee, and work with local songwriters. When she was 14, her family relocated to Nashville. Her first major show was a well-received performance at the Bloomsburg Fair. In Tennessee, Swift attended Hendersonville High School, but was subsequently homeschooled for her junior and senior years. In 2008, she earned her high school diploma.
Swift's greatest musical influence is Shania Twain. Her other influences include LeAnn Rimes, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, and Swift's grandmother. Although her grandmother was a professional opera singer, Swift's tastes always leaned more toward country music. In her younger years, she developed a love for Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton. She also credits the Dixie Chicks for demonstrating the impact that one can have by "stretching

    Taylor Swift Analysis

I found this song to contain many musical concepts to create pleasing sounding song. The song features a homophonic texture by using Taylor Swift's vocals and accompaniment with her guitar. The beat and the rhythm in this song are very pronounced, the steady repetition of the majority of the same phrases. However she does differ in the throughout the song, for example at 12:14 the beat becomes noticeably spread apart from the previous sections. The beat continues to keep the time of the song up but there appears to be less beats per measure. The texture gives the song a simple and clear feeling and melody. The homophonic texture in the song highlights the melody played. The melody in 22 appears to be disjunct as her vocals range from low to high. In the video 12:52 is a good example of Taylor Swift using the disjunct melody. I feel that her use of melody gives the song depth and provides an upbeat feeling for the listener. I found that the main instrumentation in the song were from the string family, the guitar, the electric family, for the keyboard and use of her voice. I found that the pitch of the song remained at a relatively average speed throughout the song. Overall, I feel that Taylor Swift beautifully executed her song by using musical elements and her talent as a…

When watching the video clip “Rhetorical Analysis of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space” I never realized how much thinking and creativity went into writing a song or making a music video. I often times just takes things for face value, so never thought there could be a double meaning behind her video or story. There are many paradox’s in her song that I would have never even thought about before watching this video clip. One thing that stood out to me was when taylor wrote “I can make the bad guys good for a weekend.” The line is appealing, she’s saying that she can control someone and get them to do what she wants them to do. She is trying to portray this fictional character and show her to be a little crazy because that is how the media portrays…

Gustavus Swift was born June 24, 1839 in Sagamore, Massachusetts. Swift was part of a large family, being one of twelve children. He was introduced to the meat-packing industry at a very early age; his father and several brothers were modestly successful butchers. At the age of sixteen, Swift wanted work as a butcher independently, so he decided he would move into the city to start work. Swift's father did not want him to leave home, so he offered him twenty-five dollars to stay and start his butchering business from the small town where he grew up. Swift took the offer, and used his start up capital to buy his first cow for twenty dollars. He slaughtered and sold cut meats out of the back of his father's wagon, making a modest profit. This would be the beginning of Swift's prominent career. He recognized just how easy it was to simply buy livestock, butcher it, and sell the cuts for a profit. The process was very simple. Swift repeated this process for several years, before attaining a four-hundred dollar loan from his uncle. He used this loan to open a local market in his hometown, where he got experience in retail. Although he was making a decent living in Sagamore, Swift had an appetite for success.…
