Journal # 2 1.) Teacher’s behavior of helplessness for students and examples of behaviors that would increase child’s competence. COMPETENCE | HELPLESSNES | * When waiting for other student to arrive, the teacher listens to the stories that her students are telling. * The teacher thanks her students whenever they pick up or put back the things in place. * She asks her students some question like, how are you doing? Are you feeling okay? Do you feel sick right now? * She gives her students the opportunity to be engage in all the activities. * She always tell her students that I can do it by tapping their own shoulders. * She assists her students if she feels that the individual cannot make it or do it anymore. * She does not only ask the students how they feeling but also their progress in the activities they are doing. | * Biasness or favoritism of students who are cute or active in class. * Pressures the children in doing any tasks given to them. * Materials are not prepared, in effect, makes the students chaotic. * The lesson of the teacher was no clearly delivered. * No learning outcome was achieved. * The teacher cannot manage the class. * Teachers ignore the opinions or the stories of the students. * The face and attitude of the teacher is tired and restless. * The activity prepared by the teacher was not feasible in the classroom, so it failed. |

Teacher’s behavioral devices: (I just had my field study so I was given the chance to interview some teachers) REINFORCEMENTS | REWARDS | * We give remedial after class, the student will stay for 40 more minutes. * For negative reinforcements, the teacher does not let the student join the activity for that day so that the student will realized the wrong did she has done. | * They can play their toys such as clay, blocks, or any manipulative once they have finish their activity. * They give stars as a reward. * They will be called in front. * They will be named as good girl for the day. * They will called angels and will rise level by level depending on the degree of their goodness. * |

Journal # 3 1.) I observed from what I have seen, in my opinion, the early educator that influenced in the school’s philosophy, system of education, and curriculum is Pestalozzi and John Dewey. I chose Pestalozzi because their curriculum did not revolve around the curriculum but with the child. almost all the activities and lesson proper did not depend on the book but more of the interaction between the teacher and the students. the teacher keeps on asking how her students are doing which means that she is very much concern to her students. Though she has a student who is in need of special attention, she did not treat her as someone who is different from the normal students but instead she treated her like any other. They also had this yoyo activity wherein each group was given the yoyo and they played(taking turns) when she saw that her students cannot pull up the yoyo back, she demonstrated it many times until the girls were able to get the technique of pulling it up. I also noticed that when some of her students were done answering the activity in their respective books while others aren’t, she was able to device a an activity that will keep the students busy. She also noticed that some of the students were running around the classroom during recess, so what she did she called the attention and ask them if it’s eating time or play time because she is very much concern about the welfare of her students that they might bump into one of the things inside the room that might cause an accident. She also used music from the moment the class starts until the end. At the start, there were a lot of songs being played which was memorized by the students, even in the middle, they were still singing. She also played calming songs while the students were answering their workbooks. The activities and lessons are all directed by the teacher. They had the Letter Z and Y as their lesson for the day which falls under Pestalozzi’s method of teaching- object lessons. The next early educator that I think influenced is John Dewey. The curriculum is divided into different subjects although some subjects can be integrated with each other. Dewey believes that the activities should not be long and restrictive and this was shown when Teacher Monique had worksheets that was only a page and had a lot activities that were not long because she knew that these students have a short span of attention. She built an informal atmosphere, an atmosphere where the students can be their self. I also saw that the teacher was the “master” or the controller inside the classroom. The activities revolved around the students though it was all teacher-directed. The students were very much engaged and interacting with each other in all the activities.

    I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions allowing growth in in their development of self and others.     Teacher: I try my up most to talk to the teacher after the lesson to discuss the progress of pupils whom I’ve been working with.
