Teaching is a very difficult job of great responsibility and most specific character. There is a wide variety of work in teaching, so people of this profession should be acutely aware of the tasks and aims they face in their work.
The first and probably the most important purpose is to liquidate pupils’ ignorance, because the most important things in the world are awareness and learning, wanting to know every day of your life more and more and more. So a teacher should become a communicator of knowledge. An environment should be created to stimulate children to develop their abilities and to satisfy their interests.
Moreover, a good teacher is not only a communicator of knowledge but a model of competence. So the teacher’s thorough mastery of his subject is just out of question. A teacher forms attitudes to his subject and attitudes to learning, becoming himself a symbol of education process, a person who is learning as well as teaching. An ignorant teacher teaches ignorance, a bored teacher teaches boredom. But a good teacher catalyzes in his pupils the burning desire to know. Climate of a classroom depends on the nature of personal relationship between a teacher and his pupils, so these relationships should be founded on mutual respect, tolerance and patience. The teacher should remember that he deals with human creatures entitled to have their own judgement and viewpoint. One of teacher’s main convictions should be that everyone is а unique individual who has never been before and will never again exist.
The teacher is a the sculptor of the young personality, a person in which society has confidence, to whom it has entrusted the dearest and the most precious of its possessions – its children, its hope and its future. Teacher is akin to an artist whose material is the human mind and the human spirit.
It is also necessary for the teacher to help children to live in community, to prepare them to the real life situation. So he or she should mix the stuff of lessons with the stuff of life.
Like every other professions, teaching has its pros and cons. On the one hand, this is a rewarding job which brings moral satisfaction when the teacher sees tangible palpable results of his laborious painstaking work. But on the other hand, this job is rather demanding. It’s everyday challenge to teacher’s skills, a constant stream of decisions. This work doesn’t allow to relax, as pupils’ curiosity is powerful incentive for self-improvement, so a teacher should keep aware of modern tendencies, both device his own methods and adopt existing advanced techniques.
To cope with a wide variety of tasks a teacher should possess a full set of personal qualities. As teaching is laborious time-consuming process a teacher should be tolerant and demanding, so to be able to combine insistence and indulgence. He should lead tenderly but firmly in the necessary direction. Besides, a teacher shouldn’t suppress every display of his pupils’ creativeness or impose his views on them, and if he wants to exercise his influence he should persuade children using convincing well-grounded well considered arguments. Having given up the idea to grow the grains of the Wise, the Kind, the Eternal with the help of boring edification, a teacher will manage to instil in children moral values common of mankind, to make the ideas of charity and compassion popular with them. But in order to achieve this a teacher should exercise individual approach to everyone of his pupils and to become a real master of psychological analysis.
It is also essential to be remember that foundations of human personality, morality and character are laid down in the family. So to make an education process more efficient a teacher should join his efforts with those of parents’ and keep close contact to be aware of goings on in the family.
By selfless dedicated work in educating younger generations the teacher has earned the profound gratitude and respect of the people.

“Good teaching is a skillful blend of artistic and scientific elements. Teaching as an art involves beliefs, emotions, values and flexibility, while teaching as a science utilizes instructional practices that are proven by research to improve student achievement” (Snowman and Biehler, 2006). According to (Peters, R.) teaching can involve formal methods of instruction as well as informal ways of organizing things so that children will be led to discover things for themselves.
