1. Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments?
You need to be proactive in assisting the teacher to maximise learning and create a safe and positive environment. Trying to minimise behaviour problems within the lesson.This involves communicating with the teacher effectively as to the specific duties she/he needs you to carry out within the lesson.
You may be responsible for one pupil with specific needs or a group of pupils who need support.
To help the teacher set out the equipment as this can help avoid the potential for poor pupil behaviour due to boredom. At the end of the lesson help the teacher and pupil clear the instruments away.
You would also be quietly dealing with low level disruption so that the teacher doesn’t need to stop teaching.
I would repeat any instructions to children who didn’t understand and also help them by showing how to hold and play the instrument, I may need to work with small groups of children or a individual pupil who needs extra support using the instrument.
2. What might your role be in organising, using and maintaining the learning resources, material and equipment for this percussion lesson?
My role would be to follow directions from the teacher on how this lesson is going to be delivered, also the learning objectives.I would be expected to give out the instruments to the children before or after the lesson starts . I f there are worksheets or music sheets to be photocopied for the lesson I would do that and hand them out in lesson when needed.
3. Describe how you act in class in order to be effective role model for the standard of behaviour expected in pupils?
I would welcome pupils in and speak politely, I would never use swear words in class or around the school and would challenge a pupil who uses the language. I would speak with clarity and address pupils and staff in a appropriate manner, model behaviour such as
