Harris (1998) and Pinker (2002) argued that parental influences have been noticeably overstated in terms of their developmental significance upon children. Unlike many ‘traditional’ researchers whom may have considered parental influences to be fundamental to child development, many contemporary researchers, such as; Schaffer, Dunn & Fein, have began to focus their attention much more profoundly upon the developmental significance of child relationships between one another; namely their fellow peers and siblings. The aim of this assignment is to further explore the developmental significance of child interaction, in particular; child’s play, ensuring to…

    The Grande Illusion

"The Grande Illusion", the 1938 French film by Jean Renoir, is a fine example of how war impacts individuals and changes their views during a major war, however outside the norms of battles and warfare. The title of the film can be read and deciphered in many ways. The "grand illusion" could be interpreted as one singular imposing "grand" perception during the Great War; and the word "grand" can also come to mean "all-inclusive" describing the war with a scope of many "sub-illusions." The main "sub-illusion" that is going to be discussed here is the idea that the war was going to be short and basically would not change views, society, or Europe in any drastic fashion. Although this idea is explored mainly using the film "The Grande Illusion", it is also hinted in other French films and literature such as Pierre-Jakez Helias's "Horses of Pride" and Henri Barbusse's Under Fire.…

The recreational and leisure activities that I enjoy mostly involve being outside. My friends and family can always count on me to be up for exploring and usually regret asking me because I could hike for hours! I love being outdoors and enjoy a wide variety of individual and team sports throughout the seasons. Kayaking, running, paddle boarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sand volleyball are just the beginning of my long list of activities I enjoy to participate in. Aside from the outdoors, I am an adventurous cook and make recipes of all styles.…

I have heard many times “It takes a special person to work with special children.” I find it more of a calling. Working with special children is a gift that we receive from God. 1 Corinthians 12:7 says, “The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.” I consider serving the special needs community my gift. Over the years, the only difficult issue I have had is working with students who have become disabled from the neglect of others. Near drowning victims, physical abuse victims, and emotionally abused victims are difficult for me to work with because they have become disabled or have developed learning disabilities at the hands of other people. As I have children of my own, I find this difficult to deal with emotionally and I cannot fathom the torture this must cause the parents.…

This article offers guidance for the development of learning communities by transformative change and discusses the need of higher education to such kind of variation. In this article, Stephen Pelletier mentioned that institutions, colleges and universities evolve day by day, but the first main point is that evaluation is not change. According to him, change is seldom straightforward or easy, and every change requires special management. While planning a college or university’s future today, critical idea should be given to increase changes in current models. Long-held esteems and traditional practices may need to be forecasted. New experiences may need to be devised and enforced. Every institution, college, university need to map their own…
