Technological Determinism

What is technological determinism? If you were to ask an average person on the street this question all you would get back is a blank stare. However it is an important question and plays a big role in our world today. Technological determinism like the human mind can be hard to understand at times. But in this paper you will see that once it is broken down into its various parts the bigger picture will begin to take shape. Now with that said it also important to mention that like other issues in this world this one deserves the utmost attention. So I will also be discussing the point of views from five theoreticians who have various opinions about technological determinism. And lastly I think it is important to see how identity theft in America is in accordance with to technological determinism.
The first thing we need to understand about technological determinism is that it is a theory. The technological determinism theory is basically a way of explaining how technology has important effects on people’s lives. This theory also attempts to explain our history by stating the effects technology has had on society and people over time. When we take a deeper look into the different types of determinism we will really begin to see just how broad they are and what exactly they cover.
One of the first elements of technological determinism is reductionism. This particular portion of this theory acts as the mathematician in a way. It breaks down the reasons why something works or doesn’t work. So take for example a really complicated math problem if you see the finished result without a reason to how it was done will not make sense to you. But being shown the each part of the problem would simplify it therefore making it easier for you to understand.
