Technology Changes Not Just Our Physical Environment but Also Our Way of Life.
Technology has changed our world in many aspects and through many different inventions and advances. Technology has changed our world in mainly two aspects, our physical environment and our way of life. Our physical environment is defined as the buildings, the infrastructure around us. For example, the trains and cars we see every day, the air-conditioners present in buildings and such. Our way of life is how we actually go about doing activities; the way we deal with matters. Technology has changed our physical environment in cities greatly. It has changed the physical environment, for example, the temperature in buildings, where a room can be cooled with air-conditioning. Technology has particularly changed the transport sector, where the infrastructure in current modes of transport are all made possible with the use of technology. For example, the cars, trains and buses we utilize as means of transport, were all created through the use of technology. The roads and vehicles that we see on our roads now were all only made possible through the use of technology. Compare this to the past, where walking or bicycles were the main modes of transport before cars and trains were invented. The use of technology has also changed our physical environment in terms of pollution. With advances in technology such as industrialization, the use of cars and so on, harmful gases have been released into the atmosphere as a result of these activities. These gases result in our atmosphere having more harmful gases compared to the past, in a sense changing our physical environment. Also, the innumerable tall buildings that we see in many cities around the world were only made possible by the use of technology; to ensure that the buildings would be stable even as the buildings were built higher and higher. Technology is used to constantly improve the quality of concrete so that it is stronger, and thus can be used for taller buildings. The chemical composition of cements and

When I was a young girl you had to be at home to receive a phone call, have a set of encyclopaedias to do your homework, post letters and wait days for a reply, take your video camera or camera out with you to be able to capture special moments and have your Walkman and cassettes with you to listen to music. It’s almost unbelievable to think that now in 2012 we have a device in our pockets that will allow us to make and receive calls, texts and emails, take videos and pictures and do many other things. With the changes in modern technology over the years we now really do seem to have the world at our finger tips, the internet can give us almost any information we want in seconds, we can buy almost anything over the net, we can get free music and films, find jobs, places to live and we can keep in contact with friends and family or even meet new people. A recent EU study shows that there are a growing number of Irish adults who use just a mobile phone. The numbers who use just mobile handsets is 35% up 7% since a study at the end of 2009. The number of Irish households with a computer has jumped 5% in just over a year to 69%, while 66% have internet access up 4% since a study at the end of 2009. The survey showed that 58% of Irish households have access to broadband an increase of 4% over the same previous survey. So this tells us that more and more people are coming into the world of technology. It makes me wonder though, what effects does all this have on society? Is all this new technology a good thing or does it have its bad points? Was life easier when an Apple and a Blackberry were just fruits? Seeing as the number of people using mobile phones and the internet is growing it is clear that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for people, but the reality is most of us don’t really know enough about where the information we are sending and posting goes and what effects using them has on our health.…

Technology has change the communication process by roots, now in days is almost impossible for people not to use technology to communicate. A huge example is Facebook, everybody even my grandmother has a Facebook account. This source of communication makes it possible for her to post pictures and chat live with her relatives on the other side of the world. On the other hand Business have also changed people communications within, most businesses have gone paperless where memos or messages are sent via emails, conference agendas, and some even provide cell phones for faster communication. Now in days if you want to sell yourself for job positions you must file the application online and attached your resume as well. Everything is about technology, in my job we are required to use ADP for our paystubs, change of address, and medical plan choices. Just as an example I was at the LA county office and an elder walks in and apparently he was asking to see his case officer; the first response of the receptionist was if had an appointment scheduled. The man said no but he was trying to make her understand that he had called his officer before but there was no response. The receptionist replied that the problem was that now in days the only method to make appointments was trough the website or a kiosk that was on the corner of the office. I saw his facial expression of wordiness. He was sending her a message but she was too busy to help him. I step up and ask to help him, I felt so bad because he did not know how to use a computer. Now in days technology is part of our daily lives whether we are at a business, at home or even taking a class such as this one, we needed for better and faster…

In order to examine how technology affects the world today, it is important to understand how technology has improved through the years. Examining the definition, technology obviously allows humans to cut, shape, or put together materials. Therefore, technology can always be improved by using newer tools invented from newer technology. It expands the ability to reach farther with ones hands, voices, and senses (Science Net Links, 2010). Phones are the best examples of how technology evolves. The new smartphones would not be possible to make twenty years ago. Many factors…
