Technology is taking over the lives of countess numbers of people. Since the early 1400’s, humans have been creating mechanical appliances to aid in their daily lives. With the formation of these electric assistants, humans have created multitudinous artifacts to help both themselves and the planet they inhabit, as well as advance farther into the realm of understanding how the commodities here work. In recent years, humans have become preoccupied by gadgets like cell phones, televisions, and computers. This mild preoccupation has now turned into a complete obsession with constantly having a screen to stare at for hours. Before whatever tragic epidemic caused the overall extinction of the human population to occur, the humans created a series of houses that could take care of themselves as well as the humans and their families that occupy them. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the article “When Smart Is Not So Smart” talks about what happens when technology is suddenly taken away from humans. The article states that “ Smarter devices mean smarter people, smarter behaviours, and less of the messy incompetence that sees us getting lost, crashing cars and running out of milk.” The article then goes to list some of the advances that are and will soon be possible such as being able to persuade people through the use of media alone. It then poses the question of what will happen when humans are left without technology. Since technology is proven to higher people’s IQs (stated in the article as well), then by allowing technology to take the reigns on a lot of tasks that used to be done by man -such as cleaning dishes, clothes, and entire houses -, humans are becoming more reliant on machines to do things for them that they should be able to do
