“Move it, inmate. We don’t have all day.” the officer scolded.
Teddy arrived to the airplane, with an apathetic expression. He sat down and watched as the other inmates wearing orange jumpsuits came aboard. As the seats began to fill, he began to think to himself about what kind of isolated and egregious life would await when he arrived at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. Teddy glimpsed up to the aisle and saw a tall, dark haired man shuffling towards. He sat down right next to Teddy. They sat on the airplane bound for Guantanamo Bay in silence. Until Teddy broke the silence. “So what’re ya in for?” Teddy asked. …show more content…
“What?” the man responded. Teddy noticed that the man had a german accent. “Do you speak english?” “Yes” the man replied.
“What are you in for?” he asked again.
“Well, the United States wants me for questioning. My father was part of the Nazi Army, in Germany. He committed atrocious acts along Adolf Hitler during World War II.”
“What? They can’t do that, can they? Can the U.S gratuitously arrest you and bring you to America?” Teddy questioned.
“Apparently so. You Americans and President Truman are insane. You think that you can just usurp power from other countries and do these unlawful actions. So, why are you in?”
“I killed a man, an innocent man.” Teddy replied
“That’s it?” the man questioned with curiosity.
“That’s all.”
“The name’s Jonas, Jonas Schmidt.”
“Teddy Lewis.” he replied as they shook hands.
Then there was a stray voice that exploded with fear in the back of the plane.
“Oh my god! This plane is a house of cards! It’s so unstable, it shakes with every movement, and every second I have to pray that it will not fall.”
After a presumed sinister flight, the inmates arrived at Guantanamo Bay.
“Come on magots! This ain’t no tea party!” a guard shouted.
The men rushed out of the plane and took in the image of where they’d be spending their lives. They saw the fifteen-foot tall barbed wire fences, the grotesque buildings and scenery, and other inmates being escorted by officers in unison. Before the inmates stood two guards, each wearing a standard security uniform and nametag. One of the name tags read “Lt. Harrison” and the other read “Sgt. Sanders”. The inmates listened as they announced rollcall.
“Lewis, Teddy. Inmate number 826. Schmidt, Jonas. Inmate number 827.”
Sgt. Sanders directed all of the inmates to their designated cells in Building C. Teddy and Jonas were following the sergeant along with all the other timorous soldiers. Teddy and Jonas looked at Sgt. Sanders and noticed a small silver horseshoe in his hand.

asked.
The sergeant immediately stopped in his place and turned around to face Jonas.
“Hey newbie! Shut up and get to your cell before I lose my patience!” Sanders shouted.
Teddy and Jonas got in their cell and went to sleep for the night. The next day during the inmates designated meal time, some pugnacious inmates randomly came up to Jonas and tried picking a fight with him. Tempers flared, and a fight broke out it the dining hall. Teddy alerted a guard of the incident and it happened to be Sgt. Sanders. Sander took action and hit Jonas and the other men with his nightstick.
Later that night, Teddy and Jonas were getting ready to go the sleep. Outside, there was a big thunderstorm.
“Ugh, I hate thunderstorms, they really get to me.” Teddy said.
The next morning, Teddy awoke to a view the rusty bars. He looked over to the bed of Jonas and noticed that a lump covered by a blanket. Confused, Teddy got up to investigate. But what he found was appalling. He removed the blanket to reveal a life-less body and a red ring of scratches and bruises around his neck. Teddy was horrified and disgusted and he didn’t know what to do. Just as he was thinking about what to do, two guards came around the corner on their patrol. One of the guards was Sgt. Sanders.
“WHAT’S GOING ON HERE!? LEWIS WHAT DID YOU DO!?” Sgt. Sanders exclaimed.
“What? Me? How could I have done this? I was sleeping!” Teddy said perplexed.
“You’re the only other person in here!” Sgt. Sanders said.
Sgt. Sander called for backup and suddenly there were 12 guards in front of Teddy’s cell. They were forcing him to the ground and putting him in handcuffs before he could say any sort of explanation. More guards brought in a stretcher and put Jonas’s body on it a covered it with a blanket. The body was being wheeled to the morgue.
Teddy was brought to the chief of security at the prison and he was told that his actions would be punished by death. He would be on the death row for two days before he was killed. Teddy was put back into his cell where all it seemed like he could do was hopelessly wait for the two days to be over. Teddy, laying in bed turned to face the bed of his former friend and noticed some peculiar object under the bed. We went to over examine the object. What he found was a bullet, a silver bullet. Teddy wondered what this meant.
“Hey!” A guard shouted. “Lights out! Death will still await in two days even if you don’t sleep.”
Later that night, in the morgue lay Jonas’s body.
He was still and lifeless on the table. Hours went by with no movement. But then, the body of Jonas began the shake, he began to cough. Then Jonas suddenly bursted up from the table and took in a huge gasp of air. It seemed that he had only been unconscious. Confused, Jonas got up and slowly began to wander out of the morgue. He came across a room that was marked “Control Room”. He glanced through the window and it was presumed to be empty. He entered and noticed a drawer labeled “Archives”. He scrolled through and found the file of Teddy Lewis. He opened it in amazement. It had everything about Teddy’s life in it. When he was young, he was an angel. He got good grades in school, respected his parents, and never got in trouble with the law. The file continued. It also said that he served in World War 2 and had to be honorably discharged with major PTSD. The biggest discovery was next. He didn’t kill one man, he killed twenty-two. Jonas was amazed by what he found. He was also curious to see what actually happened to him. He found the security tapes from the night before. Teddy did not get out of the bed at all during the night. Instead, Jonas saw a security uniform coming towards the cell. It was Sanders! Sanders tried to kill him. Jonas got a copy of the footage to save his friend.
The two days were over. Teddy was up next on death row. He was lead out of the prison by guards and saw a noose waiting for him. He had to hopelessly
stand there as the rope went around his neck. Then Teddy heard a shout.
“Wait! Teddy is innocent!” a voice shouted.
Teddy looked to see a figure emerge from the shadows. It was Jonas with the security tape.
“And I have proof!” Jonas said.
“What? I thought you were dead?!” Sanders said nervously.
“Nope. You failed to asphyxiate me. And I’ll prove it.”
Jonas showed the guards and Teddy the footage.
“Oh my.” said Lt. Harrison. “You betrayer!”
The guards looked at Sander with anger in their eyes. They tackled Sanders and put him in handcuffs. Sanders being a guard did not affect his punishment at all. He was sentenced to death and he was put in the noose. Teddy and Jonas spend the rest of their sentence in peace and without the Sergeant. But Teddy and Jonas were convinced that his soul was still there. For some reason, Teddy and Jonas often smelled a faint smell of burning silver throughout the prison.
