In this paper I will investigate two different teen parenting programs to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. I chose the Parenting, Academics, Careers, Employment or P.A.C.E. program of Clackamas County because of my personal experience. For my second program I chose the Insights Teen parent program because of how long the program has been operating. I hope to compare and contrast these two programs and find out which one works best for different family issues. The P.A.C.E. program is located on the Sabin-Schellenberg professional technical center campus, which is a skill center that offers all North Clackamas high school students the opportunity to explore career and technical education (http://www.nclack.k12.or.us/domain/944). The program has been supporting teen’s ages thirteen thru twenty-one since 1995. The program offers teens the opportunity to continue their education through core high school classes as well as teach them valuable life lessons including personal finance, and how to care for children in the child lab where there child along with the children of the other teens are cared for by licensed staff. Every year the program serves thirty to forty five pregnant or parenting teens. One of the main requirements is that each teen will attend parenting classes, which teaches according to ODE standards. I found that the strengths of this program are the supportive staff, and the skills these teens walk with. As a previous student in the P.A.C.E. program I have first hand experience with the elements and atmosphere within. The program is developed to promote success in all aspects of the teen’s life. Teachers that take the time to know each student and there needs, teach the core curriculum and self-care classes. Not to say that any one is given a free ride but compassion is key with this program. The students not only have time to bond with their children but they learn
