7 May 2014 Teen Pregnancy Teenage pregnancy happens all over the united stated. Every year the percentage of pregnant teenage girls gets higher. Many teenage girls get pregnant at a very young age; there are consequences about teenage pregnancy such as financial, absent and rape because they don’t know what their plans will be. Finances are a big problem when it comes to teenage pregnancy because when parents do not have insurance to cover maternity care, the family, and child can face the burden for maternity care, birth and postpartum. (Marooney1.) Without finances the mother of the child will face difficulties when the baby gets sick. Child care is not a cheap expense yet required for a teen mother to finish school and work. (Marooney1.) Many teenage girls don’t finish school because they have to go look for jobs. The pregnant teen may be eligible for Medicaid through the state if the family’s income is below the minimum requirements. (Marooney1.) Child accessories are not cheap; it’s going to be hard for a teen mom to get all the important things if she doesn’t have a job. If the teen mom’s parents earn above the minimum wage income, the teen may be denied services which leaves the burden of the costs on the parents. (2.) Absent parents can be a very difficult thing for teenage girls because they wont get the support they want to get. The absence of one or both parents could gravely affect teenagers, given that they are undergoing emotional, physical, and mental develpment. (Handron1.) Children whose fathers are absent are also more likely to face abuse or neglet. (2.) Rape is a bad experience because teenage girls can become pregnant at a very young age.
