Elias's Response Alice Parker, the author of article 1, "Teens Are Just as Sedentary as 60 Year Olds," professes that obesity in America has grown and still is growing as it shows no signs of slowing down. When one is born they obviously eat, but as they get older they eat more and more as they continue to grow. But when one exercises than that is where obesity comes to a stop, if you exercise you have a high chance of not being overweight. As article 1 states, "The latest study published in Preventive Medicine. The study analyzed data from the National health and Nutrition Examination survey from 2003-2004 and 2005-2006. More than 12,500 people aged 6-84 years wore activity trackers" (2). Therefore, leading to the next statement, "the older the people got, the less active they were. As children, many of us were very active, now as we grow up and continue to grow some people are becoming less and less active, which those people who aren't being active lead to less muscle mass which than leads to less calories burnt; therefore, their mood swings are not as they should be, they may be mad all the time or grouchy, which is not healthy for that person or the body. Which relates to article 1, "Teens Are Just as Sedentary as 60 Year Olds," Alice Parker states, "The most alarming data came from children and teens. while young children are thought to be the most active, the number showed that that rates of exercise declined during the teen years. In fact, 19 year olds spent as much time being inactive and sedentary as 60 year olds" (4). Inactivity is defined as a failure to meet the daily minimum physical requirement of moderate exercise. According to New York Times, worldwide, 31.1% of adults are inactive, from which 43.4% of North America, 34.8% of Europe, 30% of Russia, 30% of the Middle East, and 27% African. Based on these percentages, it is reasonable to assume that the wealthy the region is, the more inactive it is likely to be.
