Teletubby Babies Pros And Cons
Teletubbies is a show that has entertained kids since the late 1990’s. However, this show has not been without its critics and its controversies. A minister by the name of Jerry Farwell claimed that one of the teletubbies, Tinky Winky, was promoting the lifestyle of homosexuality to young children. Farwell provided the characteristics of Tinky Winky as evidence for his claim. For example, Tinky Winky’s antenna has the shape of a triangle. The triangle is a symbol for gay pride. His color is purple, which is also the color for gay pride. With these characteristics, coupled with the fact that it carries a red bag that looks like a purse, Farwell made the deduction of Tinky Winky being a homosexual.

The term anchor baby is being used to describe the children of illegal immigrants. This child's purpose is to help the parents secure citizenship in the country. This practice occurs way too often because one out of twelve babies born are anchor babies (Semotiuk). This is crazy that the government is allowing this to occur. The Commonwealth of Independent States did a study and the number they found are absolutely astonishing. They found that between 300,000 to 400,000 children are born to illegal immigrants every year. They also found that spikes in the data occur, because in 2003, 2.3 million children of illegals were born in America. Then in 2008, four million children were born that had parents that were undocumented. That is 1.25% of the…

two schools of criminology: the school of classics and the school of positivist. Simply put, the school of classics focused more on the crime and punishment of the criminal whereas the school of positivist focused on the criminal and how to typically “rehabilitate the criminal” in order to prevent the crime. Note that while there may be two distinct schools with differing ideas, there cannot be such a case that is so one sided that fits under that school exclusively, rather it must be a “combination of classical and positivist principles” (Kubrin 9). However,…

Imagine you are nine years old, with parents who do not love or care about you, and you spend your time being shipped from family to family, in hopes that one of them will love you enough to keep you. This is the life of the average foster kid. There are about 400,000 foster kids in America, and all of them want to have someone love them enough to keep them (Facts about Foster Care). The characterization of Piggy shows that people who do not fit in are often maltreated. Golding portrays Piggy as a social outcast by characterization. Piggy tells Ralph, “that’s right. Can’t catch my breath. I was the only boy in our school what had asthma” (Golding 9). Piggy is different from the other boys in the island. His asthma makes him not fit in and the boys treat him cruelly because of it. Piggy is also a social outcast by his obesity, shortness, and spectacles. Golding describes Piggy as, “He was shorter than the fair boy and very fat he came forward, searching out safe lodgments for his feet, and then looked up through thick spectacles” (Golding 1). Piggy is plump, wears glasses, and is undersized, the boys use all these disadvantages to make fun of him and make him not fit in. They call him Piggy because of his overweightness, which he hates and feels sadden by. The portrayal of Piggy as obese, asthma, eyeglasses, and his shortness are to show those who are not will misuse people who do not fit in.…

September 5, 2017--Attorney General Jeff Sessions formally announced Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA. This program protects nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children. The Department of Homeland Security has stopped the process of any new application for the program as of Tuesday (Kopan, 2017, p. 1). Congress, given a six month period, must find a permanent legislative solution to preserve the program before permits begin to expire. Despite Trump’s conflicting feelings for the children, he made this decision after facing a threat from ten conservative state attorneys generals who would challenge the program in the court (Fox News,…
