1. ISNT IT THAT THE CAUSE OF VIOLENCE IS NOT TELEVISION OR THE MEDIA BUT WHAT IS HAPPENING AROUND OUR COUNTRY, THE HIGH CRIME RATE WHICH IS THE RESUT OF THE INEFFICIENCY OF THE PHIL GOVRNMENT?
WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND US IS MAYBE A CONTRIBIUTORY FACTOR BUT NOBODY CAN DENY THE FACT THAT ACCORDING TO GMA AND ABS CBN SURVEYS, 2 OUT OF 3 FILIPINOS WATCH TELEVISION ON A DAILY BASIS ON AN AVERAGE OF 3 HOURS A DAY. AGE RANGE FROM 9 TO 30 YEARS OLD. THE YOUNGER YEARS ARE FORMATIVE YEARS AND IF YOUNGSTERS WILL BE LEFT ALONE WHICH IS USUALLY THE CASE TO WATCH TV THEN ALL KINDS OF MOVIES – VIOLENCE, SEX, DRUGS IS JUST ONE PUSH BUTTON AWAY. TELEVISION IS INDEED ONE OF THE CAUSE OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY TODAY. IT MAKES A BIG IMPACT ON THE MIND NOT ONLY OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION BUT ALSO FROM ALL GENERATIONS.
2. VIOLENCE DOES NOT COME FROM WATCHING TV BUT COMES FROM THE UPBRINGING OF THE CHILD, THE BACKGOUND OF THE PEOPLE.
WHILE IT IS TRUE THAT THE CHILDHOOD AND THE FAMILY ARE AGAIN A MAJOR CONTRIBUTORY FACTOR, MEDIA OR TELEVISION FOR THIS MATTER IS THE REASON WHY PEOPLE BECOME VIOLENT. THE DAILY EXPOSURE FROM YOUNGER YEARS OF MOVIES LIKE TRANSFORMER, HULK, AVENGERS ALTHOUGH WITH MORAL LESSONS STILL SHOWS VIOLENCE IN GETTING THEIR OBJECTIVE. THE REPETITIOUS WATCHING ON A DAILY BASIS EVEN WITH GUIDANCE MAKES A STRONG IMPACT ON THE MIND OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WATCHING. THE PEOPLE ALTHOUGH HE KNOWS WHAT IS RIGHT OR WRONG, DUE TO SO MUCH EXPOSURE ACCEPTS THINGS SUCH AS VIOLENCE AS SOMEWHAT RIGHT AS SEEN IN TELEVISION. 3. VOILENCE DOES NOT COME FROM TV OR MEDIA BUT COMES FROM GROUPS LIKE FRATERNATIES WHO BELIEVES THAT BROTHERHOOD IS THE ANSWER TO NOT BEING ALONE.
TELEVISION AGAIN PLAYS A BIG FACTOR SINCE WE ARE USED TO WATCHING SHOWS WHICH PUT EMPHASIS ON BEING TOGETHER, GROUP GAMES, TEAMS, YOU NEED PEOPLE TO WIN. ALTHOUGH ON A POSITIVE NOTE THIS IS TRUE, FROM CHILDHOOD TO MATURITY, WE ARE MADE TO BELIEVE THAT FOR SO MANY THINGS, WE NEED TO DEPEND ON OTHER PEOPLE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. THE EMPHASIS ON DOING IT YOURSELF IS LOST WHICH LEAD TO BROTHERHOOD OR FRATERNITIES , WHICH LATER ON LEADS TO VIOLENCE.

The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the impact of television and media violence, as well as the human cost of violent media, and the overall effects on society from watching TV.…

More than 1,000 studies on the effects of television and film violence have been done over the past 40 years and the majority of these studies have the same conclusion: television and film violence leads to real-world violence (United States 2). The average 7th grader watches about 4 hours of television per day, and 60% of those shows containg some violence (United States 4). A prime source of these violent images is TV news, which happens to be America 's number one sourse of news and information (Steyer 73). Most local television newscasts are dominated by killings, assaults, kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and other stories designed to provoke a strong emotional reaction from viewers (Steyer 73). In the recent years, Hollywood 's growing taste for grotesque, graphic fare has upped the stakes, from Friday the 13th to Creepshaw and Scream (Steyer 73). Even though these movies are not meant for small kids, it is a fact that young children are often regularly exposed to them in the company of unthinking par-…

How often do children hear, see, or talk about violent television? Could it possibly be a factor in how aggressive or desensitized these children become? Surely anyone who has access to the news has seen the recent exponential growth in violence throughout the world. It is interesting to note that this growth and the massive production and display of media violence have occurred simultaneously. According to W. James Potter, Professor of communication, the two are correlated. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and critique Professor Potter’s research by identifying and explaining three flaws and one strength that are apparent in his published article, and to share personal beliefs regarding this matter.…

‘Media Violence’- Where the latest cars go flying fifty meters into the air, with the driver falling out the window and into the next street , consequently someone is ‘accidently’ shot. In today’s culture and for the past fifty years many adolescents and other individuals have been and are being submissively subjected to this indoctrinating movement. With the simple switch of a television button it can all turn into a ‘picture perfect’ image of War, conflict, racial discrimination, murder, and many other violent scenes. All of these are portrayed for the sake of entertainment. For some, they are based on reality, an eye opener. But for others, they are a good example of what our society have become, and what we can do about it to resolve such issues and cases. From cowboys and Indians to twilight vampires abruptly pushing, shoving and literally breaking each other in half. As the death toll and aggressive situation count rises, a debate arises -does violence on TV and films really create a more violent society?…

The topic I have chosen is to discuss is how media violence plays in aggression in young adults and children. Albert Bandura developed the social learning theory. Bandura did a bobo doll experiment in 1961 and 1963, which studied children's behaviors after watching an adult model act aggressively towards a bobo doll. There were 36 boys and 36 girls between the ages of 37 to 69 months old from Stanford University nursery. The children were split up into 4 different groups that were controlled by half of them that were with the same sex or different sex. Each child was not with the other one due to any possible influences, and there were different scenarios for the two stages in the experiment. His results for the bobo doll experiment concluded that males have more aggressive tendencies than females. I completely agree that violent behaviors come from the influence from our society. The social learning theory indicates that social behavior (any type of behavior that we display socially) is learned primarily by observing and imitating the actions of others. “The social behavior is also influenced, according to this theory, by being rewarded and/or punished for these actions” (Isom, 1998, par.#2). But not only that, I agree that violent behavior comes from the video games we play, the movies and television shows we watch, and the news that comes on the television. I do agree that media violence does play a role to real world violence, aggression, and influence.…
