The American Dream mean so much too so many but in very different ways. If you surveyed individuals to get a definition of the American Dream, I’m certain that the answers would be very diverse. This I attribute to the Dream being an individual thing and not one that can be defined by all individuals in the same manner. In this paper I orchestrate to show the dreams of several characters as described in two works, A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and Dreamer by Charles Johnson. In both of these works, albeit the dreams were different for these characters initially, the cessation result was for the same purposes. Those purposes being unity, prosperity, and serenity.…

In Is the American Dream Over, Cal Thomas elaborates on the article previously published by Bob Herbert, Hiding from Reality. In Thomas’ article he habitually blames the liberals for the government’s decline. He frequently directs attacks right into the faces of all of his readers, whether liberal or conservative. His stance is not only completely biased, but it is offensive to the liberal audience. Thomas’ piece is composed of stabs at liberals for ruining the economy, letting the government get out of control, and completely desensitizing our country to the idea of the American dream. I firmly believe that political parties have nothing to do with the demise of our economy.…

32 years and 364 days before my birth, at Lincoln Memorial over 275,000 people gathered and listened to Dr. Martin Luther King deliver his speech “I Have a Dream.” During this time, racism was a huge issue in the United States, especially towards African Americans. Among those African Americans was Dr. Martin Luther King, a prominent civil rights activists who inspires our world till this day, especially with his speech “I Have a Dream.” He spoke about the injustices of segregation and discrimination of African Americans that was taking place in our nation. The reason for “I Have a Dream” massive impact is due to the tense social mood of the time and giving African Americans a vision for the future. Hitting home for many African American people but what made “I Have a Dream” so fascinating that even a 16 years Asian American can relate to? I believe it is King’s use of rhetoric and how he is able to appeal to his audiences’ everyday lives. King uses the structure of his rhetoric to appeal to his different audiences and supporting his ideas by using quotations and allusions, repeating key theme words and phrases, and “grounding” his arguments.…

First, my town will be built near Hawaii. Since Hawaii is clear out in the middle of nowhere, we will first have to build another island. The island will be called Humahumanukanukaapuaa. For those of you who dont know, that just so happens to be Hawaiis State fish Anyway, the island wont be too big, but big enough for a city, ten malls, six amusement parks, four water parks, and a gigantic soccer stadium. Why not add a Wal-Mart It will be the first Wal-Mart near Hawaii We cant forget the ABC stores that are famous in Hawaii When I was there two weeks ago, there was an ABC store on at least every single corner It was amazing Of course, we might have to import some palm trees and other various plants. Like I said before, the grass will be bouncy and multicolored The roads will be in the sky, not on the ground, therefor making the cars hovercraft cars. (Ive always wanted one of those) If you do decide to travel on the ground, the type of transportation you will use is a Segway. Those things are so cool Everybody will have the chance of an education, due to the fact that there will be 6 different school four elementary schools two high schools and one college. There will be no tuition for any of the schools. The schools will be painted various colors, whatever the teachers choose. On the playgrounds, there will be small huts with gaming systems inside. The malls there will be four stories high. The water parks will have every water ride you can think of Same with the amusement parks There would be zoos for the families and movie theaters too For recreational purposes, there will be a gigantic sports park big enough for plenty of games to take place all at the same time. Everybodys house will be at least 3 stories and will contain 4 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms, and 3 kitchens. Each house will be equipped with new, the state of the art technology, including a robot that does all the household chores for you. Robots will basically be running the town.…

    Nurse Dream

Towards the beginning of my high school career, I realized that my dream was to work with and take care of people. I began volunteering at Elyria Memorial Hospital my freshman year of high school, which sparked my interest in a nursing career from the start. I was able to get quick peeks of the tasks that the nurses had to accomplish throughout the day as I ran blood and specimens back and forth to the lab and various floors. The nurses were always up on their feet, running around taking care of the many patients that flooded the floors. As I discharged patients from their stay in the hospital, they always made a comment regarding the outstanding care that every nurse provided them during their stay. Whenever I heard those comments, I always hoped that I would be able to brighten the darkest times of some peoples' lives like the nurses of the hospital.…
