One summer, a grasshopper spent his days merrily singing and dancing. Everywhere he hopped, ants were busy ghatering grains of wheat and corn.
He laughed at the ants and said, “How dull! Why don’t you sing and dance with me instead of working in the hot sun?”
“Were are storing away food for the winter,” they explained. “ You should do the same.”
The grasshopper laughed and replied, “ Why worry about winter? I have plenty to eat for now.” And he hopped away to look for someone to play with.
But when winter came, the grasshopper could find no more food. Shivering, he knocked at the ants’ door. “Can you spare me some seeds?” he bagged. “I’m too cold and hungry to even sing!”
We worked hard all summer to store away food,” they answered. “What were you doing?” “I was busy singing and dancing,” hhe said,
“Then sing and dance for us now!” they told him. “It’s time you worked for your dinner.”
