I completed the career exploration tool in Week 1 of the class and it gave me an option for a career as a Human Resource Manager. Manage compensation and benefits structure and provides information to employees. Monitors compliance with employment-related regulations. Implements company policies and deals with staffing or disciplinary issues as needed.…

From the beginning of my Army career, due to the nature of my military occupational specialty, I have operated within the philosophy of “Mission Command.” As a young Soldier, I was expected to take the initiative to find stories about my unit that supported the command messages of my unit. At the time, I did not realize that I was exercising disciplined initiative and operating within the commander’s intent. Now, as I complete the Sergeants Major Academy, I have a thorough understanding of how public affairs is linked to mission command as a warfighting function. The purpose of this paper is to describe how public affairs is vitally linked to the mission command warfighting function and how applying the mission command principles will make me a more effective staff non-commissioned officer and leader.…

Becoming an occupational therapist has been an aspiration of mine since my father’s stroke 9 years ago. Ever since, I have completed relevant courses and gained experience in a multitude of settings to prepare myself for the occupational therapy program of TWU. I have been blessed to work with recent alumni of the TWU MOT program as an acute therapy technician at UT Southwestern. Each hour of the day, I assist a different therapist allowing me to compare the knowledge and expertise of TWU therapists with that of other graduate programs. Through my experience, I can attest that TWU graduates hold true to the school’s mission of providing innovative and proficient facilitation of occupational therapy.…

During my most recent deployment, I realized I would thrive and excel in a more mentally demanding work environment. I was deployed to West Africa with a small task unit that consisted of a Task Unit CDR (LCDR), a Special Operations Forces Liaison Element OIC (LT), an Intelligence Officer (LT), and me in the role of the communicator. I was charged with learning and performing the duties of the missing operations officer. I took on that role while continuing to maintain all the equipment I was responsible for. This assignment offered me an in-depth look at three different types of officers, the work they were required to do, and the decisions they had to make. I was intrigued. My desire for continual growth, coupled with the encouragement of these officers, rekindled my long-standing goal of becoming a Naval Officer. Working with these men showed me that, although I still have a great deal to learn, becoming a naval officer is a goal I know I can and will achieve.…
My education endeavors have culminated in obtaining two Master’s degrees, with one in Business and Organizational Security Management (2003) and the other in Public Administration (2004). During my 23-year career in the USAF, I have accumulated a plethora of awards. At each level of Professional Military Training Schools, I scored in the top 10 percent of my class and accumulated honors as a Distinguished Graduate. During 2011, I guided a team of 65 individuals to the Training Detachment of the Year award, besting 51 training detachments from around the world. The culmination of my work experience, education, and leadership and management skills could be used to support the mission of the State Department at any location. While serving in the United State Air Force, I have had the honor of working with cultures abroad in Korea and in Japan. Eight years of my active duty career were completed on overseas assignments. One lesson I have learned is to empathize with other cultures and quell my ethnocentric thoughts. I gained the insight not to judge something because it is not the same as I am accustomed…

For the majority of my adult life I’ve tried to do things that help people. Sometimes that meant helping someone improve the content and appearance of their resume; passing along newly discovered information related to health or other issues, or being a reference for someone seeking a new job. Whatever the situation, my passion has always been to help people improve their lives. That is why I decided to become a Coach.…
I am always a law-abiding person. Maybe I’m afraid of punishment by law; maybe I don’t like to do anything wicked to others; maybe I have never done anything illegal. In my eyes, law is the lowest boundary for a person. Therefore, I prefer to ask myself the thing that I’m doing whether it will encroach on others’ rights. I insist that thinking from others’ view is of great importance. We should keep kind-hearted in our daily life. All in all, I believe I won’t cross the boundary of the ethic. That’s my Morality.…
