Program for Failure: Early Marriage

Thesis Statement: Early marriage is program for failure, mostly, teenagers nowadays in the Philippines engaged in this kind of marriage without knowing the consequences.

Introduction: Early marriage is a customary and statutory unions recognized as marriage before the age of 18. It is a process when young people get married under the marriageable age. It is a poor state that a human will be interfering with. From an early age, teens meet other people including the opposite sex. By meeting them, they end up communicating and developing feelings. Developed feelings are called LOVE and the relationship starts not basically aware on sex education.

Conclusion: Early Marriage is not that easy, think first before deciding such things. As we all know that, marriage entails the assuming of very serious responsibilities. It is a matrimony or wedlock, is socially and ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations. No one can bring back time if it is already passing by. Wrong move leads to failure.

    Getting married at a young age can be negative for several reasons. The many reasons why people get married at a young age could be because of love, lust, for financial support, to become a citizen, or due to an unexpected pregnancy. A lot of times young adults confuse sexual attraction with love or confuse a need for financial security with love for their partner. There is a very fine line between love and lust because the two of them are closely related. Another reason why some get married at a young age is for financial support. There are several disadvantages to young teenage girls getting married to older men for the use of their financial support. They can suffer many emotional and physical effects from getting married so early in life. In addition, many people get married young become a citizen of this country. One can easily get into the United States legally and become a citizen through a legitimate marriage. The risks of marriage to become a citizen of the United States can include a combination of fines, prison up to five years and deportation. Finally, the most common cause is unexpected pregnancy. Most of the time when a young couple has sexual relationships without any kind of protection is because they are too young and do not have much information about that. Families prefer to keep appearances, and they force them to get married. The effect of marriage due to an unexpected pregnancy can lead to many different problems. One problem would be that teen mothers are more likely to drop out of high school. Secondly, having a child at a young age is risky for both mother and baby.     This study analyzes the determinants and patterns of early marriage and explores its consequences on marital dissolution, work status and occupation, migration, and contraceptive use in Java, Indonesia. Data from the 1991 Demographic and Health Survey are obtained on 5816 ever married women, 15-49 years old, living on Java. Early marriage occurs among women before age 20. Subjects are grouped as residing in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Jogyakarta, and Surabaya; residing in townships and other urban areas; and residing in rural areas. Findings indicate that 70% of ever married women in Java married early. Almost 80% of women who were reared in villages married early. 81.2% who still live in rural areas married early. 20% had no formal education. 74% of Muslim women married early. 79% without work before marriage married early. Dissolution was more common among women living in rural areas. 31% of women in rural areas, 20% living in big cities, and 23% living in towns were no longer in their first marriages. Women who married early were 3 times more likely to experience dissolution than women who married later. The percentage of women whose first marriages ended was highest among women who were married the longest. The effect of marriage age on current working status and the pattern of working status between early and late marriage were not significant. 80% had ever used contraception. Women who married late were more mobile and were more likely to have a higher occupational status. Logistic findings indicate that women's education, work status before marriage, husband's education, and current residence were significant predictors of early marriage. Education was the strongest predictor. The probability of dissolution was highest among uneducated, early married, Muslim women living in big cities. The lowest probability was among later married women, living in small…
