Terrigal Beach Essay
The Individuals.
Individuals depending on different individuals have had a varied success rate on aiming at promoting sustainability in the Terrigal Beach area on sustainability. They might not seem like they play a huge part in coastal management, however they actually play a humungous role in coastal management. First of all they can complain to the government about certain different things that could affect Terrigal Beach, possibly about pollution that could be affecting the local air quality or their water systems, dirty water that could be polluted being pumped into your water pipe system, or maybe even too many buildings leaving an urban overflow in the area. But if that doesn’t work they can create and start up groups to address their situation leading into groups that promote sustainability in the Terrigal Beach area. The individual, or individuals overall have a huge impact on promoting sustainability and they do. In the end they address sustainability in the Terrigal Beach area which is a matter of fact promoting …show more content…
sustainability. This, makes them tremendously successful in promoting sustainability for the Terrigal Beach area.
The Groups
Rumbalara, the tour guide for our stay at Terrigal, have been extremely valuable for promoting sustainability in the Terrigal beach area.
They not only did give us information on different sand levels, they also spoke about natural vegetation and how if they were to be removed the dunes would slowly cease to exist, in return leaving the beaches more vulnerable to floods. They also informed us of how different flora affected dunes, and how they managed or prevented them from being removed and or destroyed. They didn’t bring up coastal management directly, yet when they brought up vegetation they spoke of it in retrospect so, my personal opinion on how well they did at promoting sustainability was pretty good. Although this may not be the only group involved in promoting sustainibilty in the Terrigal Beach area, the groups have done a good job on keeping their beach sustainable and clean which is in return shown by the yellow bright
sand.
The Government
The governments, or more like the Gosford City Council, have been avid in their quest on preserving their coastal lands, and this includes Terrigal Beach. They have had tons of information online regarding how coastal management works, the processes, certain hazards of the beach and coastal management. They have started an action plan in progress, which includes informing their community about it as well as, taking in the morals and opinions of the community. The next step in this is to reduce the hazards from endangering the community even more. These activities that the government have done I’d say are extremely effective in informing the community about coastal issues, and hazards. They also plan on reducing the risks of these hazards injuring individuals physically. (COUNCIL, 2014)
In the end, the individuals, groups and government overall have done an extremely good job on promoting sustainability especially the government, that have done extremely well in my opinion.
