Throughout world history, at least in the age man has occupied the Earth; there have always been acts of terrorism. Terrorism is the threat or use of violence, against a particular population in order to attain certain goals. Terrorism has played a major role in changing and shaping societies to what they are now. terrorism has caused changes in peoples psychological views, as well as shaping societies sociologically and anthropologically. Racism is a global issue that has been around for many years. As the years go on, people have become more aware of racism and attempt to eliminate racism from their society. However, because of terrorist acts, people have self-consciously become more racist because they have been scarred psychologically by terrorism. In 2001, when the United States suffered a terrorist attack from the Al Qaeda. This attack would change the way Americans looked at Middle Eastern people forever. After the attack on September 11th, American's attitudes towards racism changed, as they immediately responded with their own racist acts. A study done by "South Asian Americans Leading Together" stated that between September 11th, to September 17th there was 645 crimes towards Middle Easterns which included; vandalism, assault, harassment, shootings (SOURCE NEEDED). The fact that people so quickly retaliated to the Al Qaeda attack clearly shows that their views on racism has been changed. Proof that people's views on racism has changed due to terrorism has been proven in academic studies. One study done reported that Middle Eastern people are just as likely to be victims of hate crimes as actually followers of Osama. Terrorism has made people more racist over time and can also be seen with the increase of the use of racial profiling by people all across North America.
