Terrorism In V For Vendetta

V for Vendetta takes place in a post-nuclear terrene, Great Britain has appeared as a Fascist state. When a young girl named Evey is rescued by an unknown masked man, she is pulled into his mission to fight back and overthrow the government. There are various themes throughout the entire comic but there is only one theme for me that comes to mind, which would be terrorism. Regarding the theme of terrorism, one of the tropes that goes with it would be masks. On page 3 of the comic, you see V putting on his signature white smiling mask including his wig, daggers, gloves, top hat, and cloak. A terrorist uses a mask as a symbol of fear among the individuals he is startling against. They also use it as a disguise. For instance, it would be impossible for police to locate the man with a mask. For instance, if the terrorist took his mask off it would be impossible to capture him because nobody knows his true identity. Evey is wearing a mask metaphorically because of the heavy make-up she is wearing. It was her first night working as a prostitute and she was forced to do it. V can be seen as both a hero or villain, it’s determined by whatever side the reader is on, if you are from the government of course he would be seen as a villain, but if you share some of his beliefs or have been hurt by the government he is a hero. It is overall very similar to Batman, to the people he saves he's a hero, to the police he spreads anarchy therefore, he is seen as a villain. V's methods are anarchist and basically like a terrorist's, but the bigger goal of independence and constancy seems to compensate his
