Ben Ross considers this and plans an experiment: the next day, he starts to indoctrinate the class using the slogan STRENGTH THROUGH DISCIPLINE. The class reacts well to this, embracing the sense of empowerment it gives them, and they continue their newly disciplined behavior into a second day of class, surprising Ross. He decides to take the experiment further and create a group, The Wave, adding two more slogans --STRENGTH THROUGH COMMUNITY and STRENGTH THROUGH ACTION - which leads to further rules of conduct and an organizational structure. Terry’s transformation is not the result of his own conscience but it is the result of a multitude of external factors culminating in a distinct and respectable change. When Terry discovers he has been involved in Joey Doyle’s murder as he stands outside “Friendlys Bar”, he demonstrates a palpable hint of remorse, demonstrating his naivety at the thought that “they were just gonna lean on him a little”. Although appearing guilt-ridden and shocked at his involvement, Terry does little and continues with his “cushy job” the next day. It is not until he and Edie express their diametrically opposing viewpoints at the bar the next day that Terry finally exposes the depth of his guilt. He appears unhinged at Edie’s request for help and displays his lack of confidence as he claims that there’s “nothing [he] can do.” As Terry speaks with Edie, he changes from displaying a false male bravado, which is encouraged by the waterfront code, to displaying something deeper within, as demonstrated when he dances with Edie. Through his meeting with Edie,…

After that the class was told to discuss the worksheet from last lesson, I got the worksheet afterwards from Mr. Walker. The class was told to get into groups of 3, I was with Enrica and Jonathan. I looked through the worksheet, it was a worksheet about the play “The Zoo Story” (which is one of the parts that I missed because of Hangzhou). I didn’t know what to discuss as Enrica and Jonathan both didn’t do the worksheet and don’t really understand the play, so I asked Mr. Walker about some information of the play. The play is about 2 main characters, Peter, the “successful” man in the ply and Jerry, with mental illness and desperate to have a meaningful conversation. They met in the center of New York Park and they started chatting. They conversed a lot of meaningless stuff, like the play “The characters”, meaningless conversation. Between conversations, they’ve mentioned about their families, frinds, social lives, the zoo that owns and whole lot more. At the end of the play they argued, Jerry threw a knife at Peter and told Peter to pick it up, Jerry then rushed to peter’s hand with the knife and killed himself. Due to the limited amount of information I have, I’m not able to answer the questions, but because Enrica and Jonathan doesn’t understand too, we didn’t actually discuss, we tried to work on the questions on the worksheet instead.…
