The original models produced by Tesla Motors range from $50k - $110K, making the vehicles out of reach for the majority of consumers. According to their original business plan, they were to build a sports car, using that money build an affordable car, and with that money build a more affordable vehicle (Gertner & Kratochwill, 2012). The company has so far completed two of their business objectives; therefore, it would be safe to conclude the company will not be going away any time in the near future. New carmakers are an extremely rare occurrence in this market because of the ability the current manufactures have to meet customer demands. Tesla Motors is the exception, not the rule.…
In our opinion, installing solar panels in the Mojave Desert is ultimately good despite the negative consequences because it’s a free source of energy that can also produce millions of gallons of drinkable water for people who struggle to find clean water every day. The cost is high to install solar panels, but it would eventually pay off down the road and could potentially provide our nation with tons of money that we could save from using non-renewable sources.…
Tesla Motors made a huge impact on the car industry by manufacturing a fully electric-operated vehicle which caused havoc against many major car manufacturers. The innovation of being able to produce a technology that can run solely with electricity instead of gas put Tesla ahead of many gas-operated car manufacturers. Many people believe that electric cars like Tesla comes with many issues however, Tesla is working to diagnose those issues within its vehicles and slowly but surely, Tesla’s electric cars are making its way to our roads and making our environment less polluted without the gas-fumed air produced by gas-operated vehicles.…
International Expansion: Tesla Motors is a renowned name in United States and has been very successful in the European markets especially Germany. However the company has huge potential and a huge market to cover in the Asian and the Canadian market and emerge itself as a leading company in automobile industry all across the globe.…
Tesla’s mass-market ambitions on charge SummaryThis article discusses the different aspects of Tesla’s rise to prominence and the electric car manufacturer’s strategies for maintaining its status. This profile of Tesla’s roots and its prospects for the future touch on the following topics: niche market competition; financial obstacles in the past, present and future; and production techniques.I. Product DifferentiationIn this section, product differentiation, which is the process of distinguishing a product or service from others to make it more attractive to a particular target market, will be discussed. Since it first introduced the Model S to consumers in 2012, Tesla has been the premier producer of luxury…
Tesla Motors is a public trading company in the automotive industry that was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers from the Silicon Valley in California. Core founders of Tesla Motors are Elon Musk, Martin Eberhard, Marc Tarpenning, JB Straubel and Ian Wright. Its headquarters are in Palo Alto, California. The CEO of the company is Elon Musk. It has over 3000+ employees. Tesla motors have their cars in thirty seven countries worldwide and continuously expanding. Tesla also opened an assembly and distribution centre in 2012 for all of Europe in Tilburg, Holland. This factory will house between 50-60 jobs starting off with room for growth depending on sales. Having a European base cuts down on transport cost making the Tesla product cheaper to purchase.…
Tesla is an all electric automobile company, SolarCity is a solar energy company, and SpaceX is an aerospace manufacturer and transporter. Tesla and SolarCity both are innovative forms of transportation and energy that are helping to contribute to a smarter and cleaner world, while SpaceX is working in the aerospace industry with the long term goal to colonize Mars. All three of these companies are impacting the world and the people in it. Although Musk may not be making thousands of people jump up and down in celebration, his companies are drastically impacting the world for the better.…
Knowing which states have voted against the Act, it will be important to map out the motivations behind these votes and address them accordingly. For coal intensive states, the loss of income and unemployment that the adoption of cleaner technologies might bring is a big concern. Creating funds to aid them in the transition is not as important as shedding light in the opportunities that the modernization of the coal industry can yield. Coal and other fossil fuels will not be displaced in the short term as renewables are still beyond the required reliability, but investing in cleaner coal is feasible and can have a high return, helping boost a stagnant industry, creating knew jobs, and attracting investment for R&D of renewables, smart grids, and carbon capture and storage technologies. Further evidence about the real costs and benefits that new technologies present should be available from MIT and similar sources.…
Elon Musk successfully established Tesla Motors as one of the leaders in the electric vehicle industry since his induction as CEO in 2008. Tesla Motors designs, manufactures, and sells electric cars and powertrain components. The company also provides services for the development of powertrain systems and components, and sells electric powertrain components to other automotive manufacturers. It markets and sells its vehicles through Tesla stores as well as over the internet (Mora 2014, 1). Consumers and companies are looking to save at the pump, and what better way to do so than with electric vehicles (Mora 2014, 1)? Through government support and raised capital, Musk has put Tesla in an advantageous position to capitalize on the growing electric vehicle market. Battery electric vehicles will increase at a 31.5% compound annual growth over the next seven years (Navigant Research 2013). With Musk’s leadership and innovation, Tesla plans on boosting sales by increasing current production of the Model S, introducing the Model X SUV in 2015, and introducing the more affordable Gen III by 2017 (Recharge Now, Forbes 2013).…
The Gigafactory is a tremendous opportunity that Tesla has taken advantage of. This factory will allow Tesla to manufacture more lithium-ion batteries in a more efficient manner. It is said that this Gigafactory will produce more batteries than were produced worldwide in the year 2013. Also, this factory will run on renewable energy. Tesla's goal is to achieve net zero energy with this gigafactory.…
Radius helped Tesla achieve legal compliance and preserve its reputation for excellence during a rapid…
Coal is dirty, oil and natural gas are limited, nuclear energy is dangerous, and then there is solar energy: clean, abundant and safe. It is already used around the Earth to give energy to those huge satellites into orbit but also in the surface of the Earth to provide electricity to many houses or other structures in need of energy. Indeed solar energy may be the most important renewable source of energy for the moment. However installations allowing using the solar energy such as solar panels are still very expensive and space consuming. Moreover to benefit from this source of energy we need some conditions such as a location with a sunny weather. But in Southern Nevada, most of the time there is a sunny weather which makes this region the perfect location for solar energy. Also studies have shown that solar energy, with minor damages to the environment, has a higher output and economically it can be more advantageous than other renewable source of energy in this region. So solar energy seems to be a good solution for Southern Nevada and more investment on solar energy in this region should be a good idea.…
Nor does it take into account the revolution in the electric industry represented by the solar panels sprouting on roofs across California. Consumers are no longer content to let utility companies build large power plants, then string transmission lines across the state to deliver the energy. Just as with the local food movement, consumers want more control over how and where their energy is produced. Borenstein's analyses do not account fully for the long-term infrastructure savings and reduced environmental impacts, if we can produce a significant share of our electricity where it is used.…
These states already cooperate in a cap-and-trade scheme to limit the carbon dioxide emitted by power plants. Other regions, including California and other western states, are copying that plan.…
I am tired of paying too much for the electricity and it has to stop! Being an engineer, I’ve decided to consider alternative ways of generating clean energy at home. It even gets better, if I buy the Nissan LEAF, which is an all-electric car, I will not have to pay for gas any more. My car will be charged up by the electricity I generate at home. In this report, I will do research and decide whether or not, investing in a new Nissan Leaf and solar power source is the most economical solution to my problems. I will conduct two scenarios, the first one is that I sell my current car and purchase the Nissan Leaf and solar panels, the second one will be I keep everything the same with my current car (Toyota Prius c). These are the current financial conditions:…
