1. Abstract
As the IT Software Industry is embarking on the maturity journey, it is observed that the Software testing is also making itself ready to align with the overall maturity bandwagon. For past fifteen years or so, the testing was mainly focusing on addressing merely to the testing needs and was largely perceived as a tail-end service provider of the software development …show more content…
This models is developed through application of statistical techniques of arriving at core and flexible part of demand.
Process Maturity in line with TMMi standard: This maturity would ensure standardization of the processes for enabling test delivery excellence. IGATE has developed its own maturity model for test organization and a ‘steady state’ Test Factory is expected to be at least at Level-4 of the maturity level.
Metrics and Defects Management: Test Factory should be supported by a matured metrics and defects management program. This is required to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of the Test Factory. If the metrics program is not in existence, while setting up test factory, the implementation should be done through adopting techniques like Goal-Question-Metric and defining the optimum metrics suitable for the organization. Similar to metrics, test factory set-up calls for a matured defect management program, which in turn would help in capturing the defects related metrics and the baselines. Both metrics and the defects would help the factory to meticulously estimate the scope and plan. Needless to say that, this in turn impact the core-flex decisions and hence cost
