Between the World and Me Analysis Throughout Between the World and Me, Ta-Nehisi Coates touched on several pitfalls that affect the black community. Through anecdotal stories from his childhood, Coates is able to define to both his son and the reader why being black in America is so hard. When reading this book Coates stressed the importance of black people needing to understand that America was not created for us to succeed. He goes on to explain that the American Dream of living comfortable and secure in a house with a white picket fence is one of the reasons that the black body is in such danger.…

Charlton Hesston, “Moses”, once stated, “We have 20,000 gun laws on the books now, but the Attorney General's office has consistently refused to prosecute and consequently imprison convicted felons. They too often go through a revolving door.” Hesston was discussing the fact that more legislation wasn’t needed. The current laws needed to be enforced! President Reagan also added, “Washington, D.C., has probably the strictest gun laws in the United States, and there are some 20,000 gun laws now in the United States. And yet March 30th a year ago, a young man that disabled me — he was in Washington, D.C., in broad daylight, out on the public street, standing, made his way among the press corps as I came out of the building, and all those laws did not keep him from having a gun and not only shooting me but shooting three other people.”…

While working in the Financial Aid field I have had the privilege of working with a number of different individuals of diverse backgrounds. I have come across people from all walks of life, including those with severe disabilities, individuals with limited resources, and even individuals with different cultural and ethical backgrounds. Each encounter has been unique in its own way with learning experiences that I have carried with me through my years of employment. Additionally when growing up I grew up in a very diverse area and have had personal experiences with working with people of various ethnicities, social, economical and physical backgrounds. Through the years I have learned to never judge a book by its cover and have learned that working with different types of people may have its challenges at times, but it is never impossible to work with different types of people regardless of their backgrounds. With my life experiences, both professionally and personally, working with such a broad range of individuals has assisted me in growing professionally and has shown me that I have the ability to work with just about anyone I come in contact with. As with anything in life, the effort and understanding that you apply to the situation is what you will get out of it. slfjsdfjlfjsldfjdlfkjas fj jfakfjfjaffjalkfj afjaflajfajfajfalsfjalfka kldfjafj akdfjafj;af ljdfafl;ajfWhile working in the Financial Aid field I have had the privilege of working with a number of different individuals of diverse backgrounds. It is hard to choose where you want to work when you start applying for jobs. The first place I started working at was a hospital named Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. After that I moved to another hospital named Alexian Brothers where I worked and remained the rest of the time till I finished high school. I started working in a hospital because my future job is to be a surgeon. Working in a hospital gave me firsthand experience on being a surgeon. My job at Alexian Brothers was better than my job at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital because of the positive atmosphere, their appearance, and the people who worked there.…
