There are many factors that affect one’s life. Yet the most important factor is a decision that will be made when you are 18. Going to college opens many doors in a person’s lifetime, provides an increased perception in the way the world works, and can increase knowledge that will help your career in future. One university that accomplishes this many times over is Texas A&M. Aggie students graduate as leaders, dedicated to the betterment of humanity.

The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, was founded in 1867 as the state’s first public institution of higher learning. When the university officially opened with forty students and six professors, the college only allowed white men to attend and required mandatory Corps

A&M is 1st overall, and for minorities, in student retention and graduation rates in the state of Texas. Every state tax dollar invested in Texas A&M returns $18 to the Texas economy. 4th in nation among all universities based on "research, service, social mobility, and contributions to society," 5th in the nation in the "Best Value Schools" category among public universities, and 14th among all universities for enrollment of National Merit winners. A&M’s preparation of students for the future is well above average in that the average starting salary of an Aggie graduate is $51,900, higher than that of any other public university in Texas.

The mission statement of Texas A&M states, “…providing the highest quality undergraduate and graduate programs is inseparable from its mission of developing new understandings through research and creativity.
