Texas Turning Point

I have moved numerous times and have attended a number of schools throughout my life, but my recent move has affected me the most. Originally living in Texas from the time I was six months old, I moved to Peoria, Arizona, when I was nine years old. However, just before my sophomore year in high school, my family and I moved back to Texas from Arizona. This move was a major turning point in my life because I had to adapt to a new area and school where I had to make all new friends. First of all, because of the move, I lived in a completely new area. Texas is quite different from Arizona, so I had to …show more content…
While living in Arizona for six years, I built some really strong friendships, so leaving those friends was extremely difficult for me-especially since I had already started high school with them and was so excited to graduate with them as well. However, I did figure it out within the first year and started to meet some wonderful students in my classes and in my extracurricular sports and activities in which I participated. Overall, my move, from Arizona to Texas, was during an important time for me in high school completely changed my life; however, I have come to realize the move was not as bad as I had thought it would be. Moving changed me but also taught me about a new area and gave me new friends at a new school whom I am starting to really enjoy. In the future, I know I will be able to graduate with the new friends for my new school, and it does not sound too bad to

The sadness that comes with saying goodbye to the friends you have spent your whole life with when moving is never easy. Throughout my education, I have moved schools 3 times and every time it has been a struggle to acclimate socially, mentally and academically. I started at Diegueno Middle School in the middle of the seventh grade. This was now my second school in only the first half of my first year of middle school. Again I had to adapt to new people and a different course load. This school had a much higher standard of academia then my prior school and at first, I struggled. School felt alien to me. Time passed and I made new friends and I got used to the difficulty. I started high school with the same group of friends from middle school…

Moving to Texas was gave me a completely different outlook on life. I was coming from a place where the average temperature was about 75 to a place where it was warm all year, including the winter. In Oregon I was able to experience all four seasons; spring, summer, fall, and winter, but Texas only had three: summer, winter, and August. I loved my life in Oregon with my friends and family, but my new life in Texas had…

I lived in California for the first four years of my life and I haven’t experienced anything above 90 degrees. I was sweaty. Heat was intense. I got sun-burned. Sun was scorching. The temperature was one million degrees high and I thought my face was about to melt off like popsicles on a sunny day. Even though it was hot, I liked that the sun was always out. But that summer, not everyone could adapt to the Arizona heat. My puppy didn’t want to drink water which caused him to be dehydrated and grew weak everyday. One day didn’t moved. My puppy died and it ruined my summer. While the house was almost finished building, we buried him in the corner of the backyard. That’s how I spend my first Arizona…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen-year-old teenagers life. One thing moving has made me is shy. If I were to go to a party, I would be the person in the corner, reading a book, or silently watching everyone else have fun. This is more of a downside of moving all the time. Because I have moved so often, I find it hard to make friends, after all, what’s the point of making friends if you are just going to move away again? I have tried to stay in contact with them, but the same thing always happens, we forget, we…
