Arriving home from school, being picked up by his neighbors, “At two o’ clock our neighbors drove me home”(3). He heard the devastating news that someone died in his family. Upon arriving home, “In the porch I met my crying father”(4), showed how death can causes so much trauma and confusion. His father crying,…

The moment I picked up my phone I knew something was wrong. The tone of my friend Danny’s voice sounded very grave and worn. The reason why followed in lowly uttered words. “CJ is in the hospital.” In sort of a daze I rushed to the hospital and found a way into the Intensive Care Unit. There in the bed was my friend with two broken arms and internal damage to his kidneys. At his side sat his mom. When I asked what happened, she said that Cj was hit off of Brooks Bridge by a drunk driver. A thirty-foot fall into the ground below, landing in the grass. Cj was two-inches away from the stone hard concrete that could’ve ended his life.…

We decide to stay a while longer then head home for school. We are anxious to even think about the night of the accident but it’s glued to our minds but we make through the day and head to the hospital. We go to the hospital again and again until she is able to walk. I ask her “how do you feel?” She says “i’m fine son.” Me, Aaron and Kayla talk to her on the way home, we get home and uncle is there. I saw his face it was All black and blue with stitches from the surgery. Uncle didn’t want us to see him he thought we would be scared of him. A few months have passed she is still a little sore from it, she finally tells us “I almost had to go into emergency surgery because they couldn’t get me to stop bleeding.” and dad has come back from Iraq the snow has piled up 19 inches high. The doctor said she couldn’t lift more than 50 lbs. She helped us shovel the snow such a good mom she shouldn’t help us she still did such a sweet…
Every day we witness multiple tragic accidents involving people texting and driving. In my paper I will be arguing that the state of Minnesota should act boldly to create tougher laws on texting and driving offenders, and also create laws to ban people from using hands-free cell phones in their vehicle unless needed for an emergency. Also it is to be determined the meaning of texting and driving, the people involved, the laws needed to enforce it, which is affected when someone is injured or killed; and what is being done about it.…

Have you ever lost a close friend or family member from them texting and driving or someone else texting and driving? I am sure you have been one to text and drive also as much as we hate to admit it. Would you want to be the one who killed yourself or someone just because of that one text? I have personally known two young girls who have been killed from texting and driving. Both were on the same road exactly five months apart. Here is why I believe every state needs a no texting and driving law to ensure that our roads are safe from those individuals who insist on texting while driving.…
Imagine driving down the road where the sun is shining and the wind is blowing in your hair, you’re having a grand old time driving and then all of a sudden someone rams in the back of your car. This is the behavior of texting while driving is proven to be unsafe. Maryland passed a new law about no cell phones in the hands of the driver while the vehicle is on; to use your cell phone it has to be hands free device. Having this law, people still text and drive and use their phones and people still do not pay attention to the road in front of them. They are more worried about the conversation they are having on their phone. People really don’t realize the danger of texting and driving. People may know the risks and the danger of texting and driving, but they just don’t want to believe it will happen to them. If they only knew the danger and what it does to a family, people might just change their mind. What happens if it was your son, daughter, sister, brother, friend, or even a loved one got into a serious car accident from texting and driving, would that change your mind to stop? Leaving to the question, is texting while driving leading you to the road of disaster?…
As if drunk driving wasn't dangerous enough, put anyone with a cell phone behind the wheel and it gets much worse. "Vehicle crashes are one of the top causes of death for just 15-20 year olds" (Thomas, 2009). "Emma Vieira, 19, of Colchester, Vermont, left a woman in a coma and killed a dog as a result of an accident back in August of 2011. Vieira was texting at the time of the accident. About 6,000 deaths are…
Technology had changed the society massively. People use their cell phones to communicate with friends or for business calls. People have been so used to using their cell phones to call or text in a daily basis. Now cell phones are major distractions when people are driving. People are so used to using their cell phones, some people consciously use them without knowing it and soon cause accidents that injury innocent people.…
People should be cited for texting while driving because not only are drivers putting themselves in danger but also everyone else around them. Statistics have indicated that over 6,000 deaths and well over half a million injuries have occurred due to drivers using cell phones in 2011 alone. Drivers sending or receiving test messages take their eyes off of the road for at least five seconds which is enough time to cover an entire football field. One could only imagine the tremendous amount of damage that can be done driving across a football field with unopened eyes. “The more cognitive workload capacity that you consume, the less likely it is that you’re going to scan the road” (Romoser, 14). People tend to lose focus on what they are actually supposed to be doing while driving and using cell phones. People as a whole can be pretty selfish and often worry only of themselves. Drivers should be cited for texting while driving to ensure the safety of all drivers on the roads and highways.…
In the morning of this beautiful cloudless summer morning, I never thought I would come so close to such a near-death experience. The drone of my phone on my desk was loud enough to wake me up and get me to jump out of bed to read the message my friend Ben sent me. “Let’s go to the lake I’ll pick you up at 11.” I run to my clock to see the time to realize I only have 15 minutes to get ready. I throw on some swim shorts and grab something to eat as I hear the honking of my friend’s semi-new looking car that his dad recently bought him. “Let’s go!” he yelled. I jump into the passenger seat, to see my friend ben, a lanky, pale, blond haired boy. Surprised he could even fit in the car; we start driving toward the lake, and notice the buildup of traffic. “I know a short cut we can take” as he turned into gravel logging road. “Let’s see what this baby can do!” I didn’t know much about bens driving skills but what I did know was that he loved to go drifting. As he cranked the E-Brake we turned the corner, rocks hitting the car like a machine gun at a war. We came toward a bridge as he pulls the steering wheel straight nearly hitting the concrete blocks on the side of the road. “That was close he yelled” frightened for my life, I tighten my seatbelt preparing myself for a collision. “One more time!” he yelled as we were tossed back and forth inside the car. There was a river ahead we didn’t notices, due to the large amount of bushes and ferns growing around. As we hurtled towards this unknown pit of death the car begins to spin out of control, dust covering the air and making it impossible to see, ben steps on the break…
