My family and the Avila’s were both full hispanic. My mom is Mexican and my dad is Guatemalan. My parents culture have both similarities and diversities, and also I’m different compare to them. For example, My dad and his family are used to kiss each other as a greeting. My mom's family on the other hand, usually just hug or shake hands. But, i'm used of just saying “Hi” or also “Hey”, but sometimes I get in trouble for not greeting they way they do because of the way their culture is used of greeting. …show more content…
Most eat the “Traditional Thanksgiving food.” One example is turkey and mashed potatoes, those are my personal favorite Thanksgiving food. We also get together with our big family, for us all of my Uncle and Aunt’s come and with all of them and all my cousins it can get overwhelming, but it’s always fun. I noticed how the Avila’s were making Tamales and I actually smirked because that’s what most Hispanic families do they bring in their culture and mix it in with other cultures. I like how some people don’t care about being different.
In the movie the Avila’s have the older women do all the preparing and cooking which is like a tradition. While the women do the preparation the men relax and watch tv. In my family you also notice that, that the men are watching tv and the women are trying to do their best to finish cooking.
