The 11 Leadership Principles
Context: The 11 principles given from the Marine Corps are composed to demonstrate through practice the values and traits needed in a leader. They allow a marine or person adhering to them, to administer self-examination leading to the ability to improve weak areas and identify strengths.

Analysis: The overall 11 principles are core values that create a culture of leaders. Civilian Leadership should embody many of the 11-core value as they translate into effective leadership skills in any area. The negative connotation of having a militaristic leadership style is offensive to those who serve our country and hold thousands of lives in their leadership abilities. This is a method used in many programs civilians call this professional development. Its allows the ability to improve yourself mentally, physically, or emotionally. Understanding your weakness and strengths help you cope with any level of stress or diversity. To be tactfully and technically proficient is the understanding of resources and how to best demonstrate or utilize those resources is a value that is important to show knowledge and skill. Setting the example which translates into civilian world as, leading from the front. This develops rapport for you marines and builds trust in your unit. Making sound and timely decisions, in the field this could mean life or death in the office this can mean doors open or doors closed for business. Though they are two extremes this is the reality of one’s life based upon their position. Having a leader that make sound decisions and display confidence through action is important for the moral of the team. Making timely decisions shows knowledge and confidence as, well.     The Marines Corps teaches their recruits in basic training the fundamental traits of a leader within the ranks of the branch of service with the acronym JJDIDTIEBUCKLE. Each letter of the this acronym represents a trait that leaders should acquire and maintain within their professional and personal lives. There are fourteen traits, however the highly visible traits are judgement, loyalty, initiative, tack, courage, integrity, endurance, justice, and decisiveness. The culture of the Marines is the purpose to lead other Marines and take charge.     Leading Marines is the greatest resource that I have come across so far for guidance and motivation in becoming a leader of Marines.
