In this face-pace century, we are being forced to move forward to a faster and more complicated life style. Due to the reason that we seem to hold less time, we grab time by squeezing other time of dairy routine, for example, meal time. Compare with eating in that needs a lot of time for preparation, dining out seems farther convenient and efficient. Therefore, the group of people who prefer to eat out is growing increasingly. According to Global Views Monthly statistics in 2011, in Taiwan, the population of eating out regularly is already up to 70.2%! This astonishing number does prove us the benefit of dining out exactly has effect on the customer’s decision. Although eating out surly holds its advantage on time-saving, I still tend to have meal at home for following reasons. One of my reason is that eating in is much healthier. We can control our diet by preparing appropriate nutrition in our meals. First, by various kinds of vegetables like broccoli and lettuce, we can benefit from their well-contained vitamins, especially vitamin C which can strengthen our immunity. Once we have strong immunity, our chances of getting sick will be lower. Second, by adequate dietary fiber we consuming from fruits, our digestion can be promoted. In this case, we are able to absorb more nutrition and further excrete more toxins that bad for our bodies. Moreover, the sufficient protein is essential for our lives. In our bodies, excluding the water that occupied up to 70%, protein takes the rest 15%, which is even higher than other nutrition. With the fresh meat and alternatives that we select carefully, we can obtain protein which maintain our energy and makes we feel energetic. Also, protein can make contribution on building up our muscles. Under our wise control of vegetables, fruit, meat and alternatives that we preparing at home, we could have a healthier diet. Besides being healthier, other advantages of eating in are to improve family relationship and shape children’s responsibility. Try to image the scene that a family is preparing and then having a warm meal. Before the meal, children may ask for having their favorite home-made dishes. By this chance, children and parent can know more well about preferences of each other. As a saying goes that “There is no such thing like free lunch”. In order to shape children’s sense of responsibility, they should devote their effort to the meal as well. For the preparing and cleaning up work, parent can let children help cook or wash dishes. Those involvements can let children aware that preparing a meal is not just mother but everyone’s duty. Then, the most important part is definitely on meal time. In this relax time, family share their daily experience and trifles together, with joyfulness and laugh involving. Having meal together does really reinforce family bonding. Gradually, members’ sense of belonging toward family will also be strengthened. In 2011, Taiwan Society of Nephrology referred that 80% of people who undergo kidney dialysis are who had continued eating out for a long period of time. Even though the convenience and variety choice of eating out are appealing, I will still hold my preference on having meal at home without doubt. The health issue is what I place my high concern. Indeed, from my point of view, the most two essential things of my life are health and family. By eating in, I can take care of my health and build deep relationship with my family at the same time. For these reasons, there is no way for me to not put eating in on my first priority.
