the advantages and disadvantages of having smartphone
In the 21st century, the technology of the world is becoming more developed and advance. Therefore, smartphones are very popular nowadays and everyone can buy it. Smartphone
The advantage of a smartphone is that we can browse the Internet whenever we are connected to a network. Smartphones have the ability to browse websites with large amount of data and the website will appear the same way as it is while using a PC. For example, we can search Google for information or check e-mail. Not only that, after connecting to the Internet via the smartphone, we can also surf Facebook and Youtube the same way as on a computer. Therefore we do not need to bring any heavily-weighted laptop while going around.
Not only that, smartphone provides users the ability to download many applications from online store such as social applications, games, reading applications and many more. Smartphone also has GPS which can be used to identify places that are new to you. When travelling to unknown places, it is a good idea to have GPS to help you find the place you’re looking for. Smartphone will help in your navigation. The most popular GPS application is Waze. By using Waze, we can decide which road is a better choice to avoid traffic jam. Not only that, we can also check for any road accidents or police traps by using Waze. GPS is the best for all drivers.
We can save a lot of money by using smartphone, this is because there are many free communication applications such as Wechat, Line, Whatsapp, Skype and Viber. By using these applications, we can enjoy free services such as sending messages, voice messages and video calls without limit. All we just have to do is to connect our devices to the Internet. It can save a lot of money that we spend on the phone monthly.
Though few, users have still found some disadvantages of having a smartphone. Having a smartphone will affect our personal safety. It is because the cost of a smartphone is very high. You can get killed by robbers who want to steal your smartphone. The cost of our live is more valuable than a phone. So, I advise people to not play your smartphone while you are walking to avoid robbery in case it happens on you in order to save your life.
Besides that, smartphone also has bad effects on our health. One of it is the radiations emitted by mobile phones which causes serious health hazards to the users. These include brain tumors, ear defects, headaches and blurring of vision. This happens because mobile phones use microwave radiations to transmit data. For this, base stations have to be installed in various parts of the city so that effective coverage can be given to the users. Therefore, not only the users of mobile phones will be affected, so will the people who are living near the base stations. So, we should switch off our mobile devices if we are not using them.
People are socially isolated from the real world and only interact with their smartphones. Nowadays, people with smartphone, especially teenagers, are addicted to fun smartphone games such as Candy Crush, Temple Run and Angry Birds. No matter where we go, we constantly see people playing games on their smartphone during family gatherings, friends outing and on the bus. This causes people to interact less with the people around him and thus slowly they are isolated from the real world. As a result, they are unable to socialize as they are paying full attention to their smartphones. Other people might feel that they are not being respected and will feel displeased.
In conclusion, it is an undeniable fact that smartphones have indeed changed our life significantly. There are both advantages and disadvantages of a smartphone. As long as we make good use of it, smartphone always brings us benefits. Thank you.
