Paulo Coelho, the author of the Alchemist, calls this desire a personal legend. Everyone, when they are young, somewhat knows of their personal legend, and at some point in their lives everything is clear and possible. However, as time goes on, a mysterious force seems to blind us of achieving that goal. Through Santiago, the main character, and his attempts at reaching his personal legend, we can be reminded of our own personal legends and become more aware of everything around us. The Dream Begins. The movie Goal! The Dream Begins is about a young adolescent named Santiago Muñez who is a minority, passionate about soccer, and works hard to become a professional soccer player. Just like Santiago from the Alchemist, he felt as if failure was the only option to his dream because the situation seemed nearly impossible to make come true. However, he did not give up and kept working hard to achieve his goal of becoming a professional soccer player. Likewise, the adversity did not hold back these two characters from achieving their goals. Even though, at first they similarly where attracting thoughts of giving into failure and resignation, both characters reflected on the hard work they put into getting where they currently are and how they need to finish what they started. Many people give into their fears due to lack of faith and confidence within themselves. The law of attraction starts by having faith and being able to take advantage of the opportunities presented at any given moment. The ability of having faith can change situations from detrimental to optimistic. For example, in The Alchemist, Santiago is given the opportunity at love with Fatima and his optimism of her feeling the same eventually becomes a reality due to the law of attraction. Many would probably not take that opportunity since they probably have a mentality fulfilled with negative thoughts and will only end up attracting negative energy. Similarly, in the movie Goal! The Dream Begins, Santiago has the opportunity of a lifetime which is to try out for Newcastle United and he fears that he will not make it due to the fact that many fail at this dream; moreover, he believes that he will not make it since he does not have sufficient funds and also because he is a minority. Consequently, he ends up taking the opportunity knowing that this is a one-time chance of making his dreams come true, regardless of what society thinks of him he goes for it thinking positively which finishes giving him positive results.
