Of Mice And Men There were many differences between the novella and the film. One of those differences was how Lennie killed the pup. Another is when one of the workers named Mike who also worked on the boss's land, asked to switch jobs with someone because he could not keep up. The final differences is the way George killed Lennie at the end. The novella and the movie were very similar and majority of the movie favored the book. For instance in the text were Lennie and Crooks were having a conversation in Crook's barn, the movie captured the image that was in peoples minds. It captured the image because it showed Lennies emotions and how he was feeling when Crook's was asking him what he would do if George never came back, you could see the anger and rage in his face. A difference between the two is the way Lennie killed the pup. That is a difference because in the book when he killed the pup everything seemed more dramatic and then in the movie it seemed as though he was sad and felt bad but the feeling was not as strong as it was while reading the book. Another difference is how George killed Lennie. This was the major difference between the movie and the novella because Georges emotions were not high enough. In the story it mentioned how George was slowly and barely able to lift his arm up to kill Lennie but in the book he just immediately killed him with no hesitation and no emotions involved. The most important difference was the way George killed Lennie . This was the most important because you would not have expected George to kill Lennie after he has been looking after him for such a long period of time. Also because it is the end of the story and it just gives a twist that no one would expect. Those are some differences and that were noticeable while reading the text and watching the film. There were many more but these are the ones that seem to stick out the most.

There are many differences between the book and the movie. For example in the book hen susie's soul leaves the earth she touches ruth on the soccer field. But in the movie she touches her as she is walking home on the street. Another differences is also shown when lindsey is in Mr. Harveys house searching for evidence , because in the book she rips a…

The difference between the film and the novel is that Nathaniel never got to meet Yo-Yo Ma. While reading the novel I wanted to see what actor would play Yo-Yo Ma. It was a disappointment to see that they did not play the scene where Nathaniel sees Yo-Yo Ma for the first time since…

The final difference that i’ll talk about is the bird attacks. Between the book and the film, there were attacks in the movie that didn’t happen in the book, and the same for the other way around. In the movie, the first attack with multiple birds was at Mitch’s sister’s birthday party, which didn’t exist in the book. While in the movie, the first attack was in Nat’s childrens bedroom. Also, in the book, Nat was attacked for an entire night, and he was by himself. That also didn’t happen in the book. In the movie, Mitch’s ex girlfriend was murdered by the birds, and in the book, Nat’s ex was never…

Another noticeable change in the movie verses the book was the emphasis on the different characters. The main character was indisputably Michael Oher in both the book and the movie. However, the movie put a strong emphasis on Leigh Anne Touhy (who was played by Sandra Bullock) and presented her as the second most major character aside from Michael. The book, on the other hand, had a lot more facts about Sean that the movie never presented. Leigh Anne was a key player in both, but in the movie, she seemed to be so much more of a main character that the other characters that stood out in the book did not do so in the movie. The major example of that was Sean Touhy who seemed to be the first one to invest in Michael in the book unlike the movie where he played a more quiet and uninvolved role in Michael's life. There were other subtle differences that could be noticed, like having the necessary GPA for an NCAA scholarship be 2.5 (movie) instead of 2.56 (book) which led to another problem to work around, or having Michael's fight be with the gang members in his old neighborhood (movie) instead of with one of his teammates at Ole Miss (book). Overall, however, the movie attempted to portray an accurate account of the book which made it enjoyable to read and watch both.…

The extra scenes added into the movie would reveal just a little more about the character. “ Go back to the barn!” (Sinies 32:44) the scene when Curley’s wife was flirting at George would give more character because Curley’s wife dosen’t do anything on the ranch when the men go to work. When Curley comes in to tell her to go back it show that Curley’s wife is stubborn. Some of the characters looked different from what they were described as. That would be another difference between the book and the movie.…

In both the movie and the book lennie is said to be very strong , which he is, but because he is so different from all of the other workers, he does not know how to control his strength. Since lennie he is not like many other workers he does not act the same. Lennie is a man of many different actions. Some bad, some good, and some are just completely unordinary. Even though george does not make it seem at times that he does not want Lennie around, he really does.…

Another stark difference within the movie is how Caroline dies. In the novel, Caroline dies of scarlet fever after nursing her beloved Elizabeth back to health. In the movie, Caroline dies while she is giving birth to Victor's little brother, William. In the novel, when Victor goes to school in Ingolstadt, he is never visited by Elizabeth. Instead he is isolated from his friends and family for close to six years. The movie really seems to dampen the theme of isolationism by showing Elizabeth and Henry Clerval visiting Victor in Ingolstadt. After the monster is created, Victor falls ill. In the novel, only Clerval arrives in Germany to nurse Victor…

This section of the ending is virtually the same in the movie and the novel. However, the novel includes an extra scene that the movie adaptation omits. After George shoots Lennie, the other ranch-hands come into the area where George was. Slim, one of the ranch-hands, is the only one that really understands the connection between George and Lennie, and he empathizes with how George is feeling. He sits down next to George to comfort him and says, “Come on, George. Me an’ you’ll go in an’ get a drink.” By doing this, Slim is extending his hand in friendship to George, who would otherwise be alone without his old companion, Lennie. This brings to light that the intention of the work is to show the importance of friendship and kindness. On the other hand, the movie adaptation of Of Mice and Men does not include this final scene, and ends right after George shoots Lennie. This is a small omission, yet an important one. By doing this, the movie focuses too much on the connection between George and Lennie. Without the final scene where Slim offers his friendship to George, importance of friendship and kindness in general is not illuminated in the…

The facts that the death of Candy’s dog and the death of Lennie are identical, reflects on the way Lennie was killed. He was shot in the back of the head just like Candy’s dog. Candy told George that he should of shot his dog himself. This made George kill Lennie himself, instead of dying by a stranger like Candy’s dog.…

There were some differences in ending. The differences are, in the book it takes months to find out what happened to Bruno, Bruno's mom, and Gretel even goes back to Berlin, where they moved from, hoping he might have made his way back there. The ending was slow and very undramatic. However, in the movie, they find out what happened to Bruno the same day he goes missing. In the movie, they send soldiers to look for Bruno. The ending is very fast and dramatic and…

Upon searching for the similarities between the 1954 novel and the 1963 film the similarities strike more significant than the differences and they are very important to the plot of the movie. The major elements of the plot remain in the movie. For example, all the elements that are important to the understanding of the story are not left out. This is important because the book and the movie both have the same storyline throughout and so both versions give the person the same knowledge of the major…

To conclude, both the story and the book share many events, characters, and ideas, they also show differences from one another. The movie had the characters of a different gender than what you would expect when reading the story first. The movie director added in extra scenes that help portray the main story. Though the main idea of both were well thought out, there could have been a part in the movie that showed an alternative ending than the book, such as the operation becoming permanent or Charlie marrying Miss…
