In the great gatsby a lot of character had an american dream some had to work hard and some didn't have to work as hard to get where they are. The dream was quite simple but these characters worked harder than they needed to. Gatsby went overboard trying to get to the one he loved, Daisy wanted success and money and she Tom was the only one that could provide it, and Nick wanted to please other even when he couldn't please himself. They all experienced a lot of things while trying to work up to a better life and they all were great examples of F Scott Fitzgerald attitude about the american dream.
