The American Revolution was a war for consolidation. Prior to gaining independence from Britain, the American colonies were under different social classes. This brought distress amongst the poor because they were the ones who suffered the most. To counter that, many groups combined to form unification to break their alliance from Britain. In chapter 4 of Tyranny is Tyranny, he states, “In North Carolina, a “regulator Movement” of white farmers was organized against wealthy and corrupt officials in the period from 1766 to 1771” (Zinn). These group of people were oppressed by the rich. The “Regulators” resented the tax system making adjustments to new laws that were in favor for them. This is significant because this is where the beginning of…

“How did it happen that thirteen colonies on the fringe of civilization, as it were with perhaps half a million males of fighting age, without military resources without leaders, without even a national government, a national army, a national treasure, brought the mightiest of European powers to its knees, and wrung from it concessions beyond the greed of conquerors?”…
Ambition is often taken too far, causing self-indulgence and greed. A good example of ambition leading to greed is in World War II. Adolf Hitler's quest for world domination caused over 80 million deaths world wide.…
The American Revolution was caused more by economic factors than political. Although political factors played a role in the Revolution, a greater significant portion of the American Revolution was caused economic factors.…
Greed is a bottomless pit which drains the person in an endless effort to satisfy their needs without ever reaching fulfillment. When colonists came to America from England, they came in search of freedom. Colonists were not only looking for religious freedom, but also freedom to gain new economic success in the New World. After an extended period of time to grow and settles within the colonies, colonists felt strong enough to grow on their on and felt capable of growth without the oversight of England. Revolutionary ideals formed during the the American “Revolution” were somewhat effectively turned into political realities. The common colonist, as well as the elite upper class had many different ideas of what they wanted their lives, society, and government to look like. Although many had different specific ideals, their general ideals regarding how they’d like to be treated as individuals and as a nation stayed mostly the same. The outcome of the revolutionary period in 1787 fairly matched the promises made by Patriots attempting to convince Loyalists or neutrals to join their side of the fight for independence. The several arguments made for independence struck a chord with many different types of people who some of which then felt motivated to fight in the war.…
Greed is an excessive desire to acquire or posses more than what one needs or deserves with respect to material wealth. In life, there are things we need and things we want. Greed is usually associated with the want part of life. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting the finer things in life, but when you can’t control your wantsand you want more and more, it turns into greed, and it can especially be evident in a churchgoer. Some churchgoers hide their greed, while you can see it very clearly in others. A good example of this would be how churchgoers always encourage giving. In the Bible it says that, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." But when it comes time for them to give to a needy cause or pay their tithes and offering, they become stingy and only give small amounts, or nothing at all. Some of them may even say, "Sorry, I don't have any money," when they know they have money but are trying to save it because they saw a purse or a pair of sneakers that they want at the mall, when they have 200 other pairs of those things at home that they don't even wear. A child goes without food and shelter everyday because of the greed in some people, especially…
The American Revolution was an extremely important event that helped shape the modern world, however, it was not a true revolution. According to Richard Price, a British Unitarian minister, "A true social revolution destroys the institutional foundations of the old order and transfers power from a ruling elite to new social groups." (Digital History ID 3222) During the 1700's, the American colonies had already been engaging in a form of self-government in their localities, which they largely fashioned in the English manner to which they were accustomed. At that time, the political leaders were the wealthy landowners and socially elite, such as Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, which reflected the same hierarchy of the British Parliament.…
