Language and gender are always changing because of a factor, which is to meet the needs of the people using it. The changing culture we used affects the way language develops and the way it is used by different people in the society. The ideology of a society is reflected in its use of language because children learn their values, assumptions and expectations from their parents and the words that they have to learn. Based on Gender and Language text book by Angela Goddard, this ideology is passed down from generation to generation. It means that process of socialization lasts our whole lifetime. Therefore, learning about gender starts at a very early age. As Angela Goddard said in the text book page 41”...how the brain functions in relation to the world and language, and how language influences the way our brains organism information.” In this paper we will analyze about how brain can separate gender in the language used between male and female when girls talk with other girls, when boys talk with other boys and also when boys talk with girls in the social network by using discourse analysis. In this discussion there are two terms ‘brain’ and ‘mind’. Brain has often been used to denote biological and functional activities (such as movement, speech production and memory), while ‘mind’ has often included more individual, creative and imaginative aspects of mental activity (such as dreaming and thinking) Angela Goddard: 41. Brain and mind are close to each other. Brain cannot be used without mind and also mind cannot create any creative and imaginative things without brain. In the text book page 42 said that cognitive structures and processes do not physically exist, unlike biological or physiological structures and processes.
