Justice and fortitude are two of four basic ‘Cardinal Virtues” listed in the book. After Sonny escaped from his family, his church, and his everything, we can find the fairness and strength from him. Regardless of the race, he arrived in a black community and started a new life with the name E.F. He worked as a garage mechanic and preached on the streets and a local radio station. He also played an important part in rebuilding a poor church and gains supports as he looked for his own salvation. Honestly, his life was completely changed. Once there was racist who tried to take the church down with his bulldozer; however, Sonny and those faithful believers were not scared at all, they put the bible on the ground and made the man come to realize the truth that he was wrong. Despite the fact that Sonny did something terribly wrong before, I still admit that he is not bad, I mean he know what he is supposed to do and willing to offer. The sin of the past did not ruin his mind, on the contrary, it made him stronger and realize his job. Starting a new life in the place he is not familiar with was really tough and tiring. Nobody knows what Sonny had been through in his heart, but he never gave up his hope and became the apostle again. It was his strong will that led him to the right track. Without the fortitude, people cannot practice any other virtue very long without bringing this into play. Sonny set a nice example of these two virtues for Christians.
