The Argument of the Task of Leader and Leadership

1. Introduction
A leader is a person who leads other. In an organisational level, the leader could have significant influence to the subordinates or followers. Another related term is leadership which could be defined as „the social influencing process that a person strive for support of others to accomplish the common goal‟ (Chemers, 1997). The way to lead these people to achieve the goal of an organisation is a vital issue with lots of discussion about it for many years. Nevertheless, not many people have paid attention to the task of leadership. I think it is also important and not to be neglect. There is a statement which is the ultimate task of a leader is to take his or her organisation from
where it is to where it has never been. It reminds people to think about the final task of a leader in an organisation. However, I do not totally agree with this statement, because, this statement is fall into one hand to absolute. In my opinion, not all of organisations should to go to a situation where it has „never‟ been and it is not the
„ultimate task‟ for a leader. This article will discuss about this statement with more details to explain why it is not necessary to lead organisation to a new field. Firstly, it will look at agreement of leading an organisation to a new field. Secondly, it will pay attention to the reasons which disagree with this statement in a manner. Thirdly, there are some real examples for further thinking. Then, it will come up with a possible method of leading an organisation to a new field. Finally, there is a brief summary of whole article.
