My personal writing process helps me create the best writing I possibly can. Playing on my strengths and working on my weaknesses enhances my writing and allows for the creation of a well-crafted essay. My process may not be the same as others, but these are the steps I need to produce a powerful essay worth reading. Education and practice can help me further develop my weaknesses into strengths. As I learn new techniques, perhaps my future writing process will evolve, as…

When writing an essay there really is more to it than just writing words down and making sure the words is used correctly. When someone is having thoughts they need to write them down and just go from there. At first it may not be perfect, but the writer can always go back and change the errors that need to be fixed. Before reading this I figured it was going to be about bad writing and one should not worry if it is not perfect. This made me realize that it is not about how you write, but what you write about and how to get your thoughts across.…

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…
I have always had struggles and difficulties when it comes to writing. This is due to the fact that English is not my first language, and that I am still learning. I started to learn how to speak, and listen, and mainly write in English when I was in ninth grade. Writing has been the hardest to deal with it, because I have many spelling and mechanical errors and most importantly, how to organize an essay, but this changed when I took English 49 with Professor Lucero. In my first day of class, I was assigned to write an essay about my experience with writing. I was not completely sure on how to start my essay and how to organize it. When I was in High School, I did not write many essays, and the few I did, I have endless help. So, I just my…

An autobiographical essay is a personal essay, so it has to be about YOU, it has to be written in the first person (I) and it has to tell a story about your experiences with reading, writing, or…
This has been my biggest problem in writing since I started. I have approached it in many different ways but no matter what I was never able to produce any essay that had my complete confidence in. This has been my writing hump that I need to achieve in order to take my writing to where it needs to…
I always learned in high school that an essay only consisted of an introduction, body, and conclusion. There was no room for creativity, subjunctive writing, or free-thinking. As my favorite YouTuber always says, “If you are doing what everyone else is doing, you are doing it wrong” (Neistat). Through writing various papers in this class, I have learned that my voice as a writer is not limited to the standard academic paper.…
Hello, I am writing my essay about the greatest writing challenge of my life that I had to face as a senior in high school. I learned through this experience the importance of being able to write a research paper and also how to deal with learning obstacles. Before this experience I thought I was an excellent writer, but afterwards I realized that we all have to overcome the challenges of learning to read and write at certain times in our lives.…
As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…
The most difficult part for me was writing the self in context essay. It was the first essay making it hard to write. The hardest part about it, was writing about my father. It was difficult for me to write while I was emotional. I feel writing while I was emotional made my essay strong. Writing the essay about my father also helped me with my…
Before completing my English class, I tried to make my writing seem perfect with one effort. I wasted time and stress over my work. During this past semester, my instructor taught me that rough copies of writing are best. I began outlining and taking smaller steps in my writing process. My mind felt more refreshed, and I was able to think more clearly about how I wanted to present my work. In one of my first papers, “Dreams in Flight,” I even took the time to test different subjects to write about in a memoir. Viewing topics from different perspectives also helped me to become a true writer. While writing my advertisement analysis, “Health Is Where Campbell’s Heart Is,” I had to look through the eyes of a company and a consumer. This tactic taught me to broaden my own perspective before drawing conclusions in my writing. At the same time, I also learned that a good writer must be able to defend his or her opinion. I used to be afraid to voice my opinion through writing. I would worry about what my readers would think. When my instructor assigned an argumentative essay, I knew I would be challenged. I decided to choose a topic I felt strongly about, the New York City soda ban, and found statistics and facts to defend my opinion. I discovered how to control my thoughts through this assignment. I learned that writers have to show feeling to attract readers.…
